Yes i only buy Olive oil when its half price or a decent special, these days only buy the Australian olive oil which was dearer than the Spanish or Italian to start with but the price of the local and imported product is through the roof at the moment.

      • BBQ night.

T Bone steak, marinated lamb chops with a squeeze of lemon when cooked and a lovely garden salad.

Ceanked the BBQ up early as it looked like it was going to p*ss down but it missed us.

          • Lazy dinner tonight, just got a BBQ chicken at Coles so making wedges and salad with it, just cant be bothered doing much tonight after both of us running around to various medical appointments today and then an hour or so in the pool at Allianz.

            • Mod Thai couldn't deliver so it was dim sims, chicken Laksa and combination omelette from the lil Buddha by default. Definitely not a downgrade. Bon appetito Chookpenners!

I love the humble and easy BBQ chicken night. I would get my Chook from Anzac Parade Maroubra Junction when I lived in Sydney. Cooked to perfection over hot coals. Their hot chips were also very good!

Have had the chicken from Maroubra Jct but not for a very long time, sometimes go to La Perouse or Little Bay for a swim and on the way back call into Krazy Chix at Malabar and get a chicken and coleslaw or potato bake or both for an easy dinner after the beach.
Usually i only buy the Coles or Woolies chickens for making a quick mornay style chicken dish or want some for sandwiches but they had them reduced yesterday at Coles and have to admit the one i had last night tasted so much better than they normally do. Just had some of the left overs for lunch.

                        • I’m making the filling for my chunky beef meat pie this afternoon. It usually takes 3 hours to slow cook. Will have it for dinner tomorrow night. Tonight is takeaway night.

                          • Fish cakes and salad.

I love it when I get my olive oil / balsamic vinegar ratio perfect for the salad dressing. Nailed it tonight!

I'm a free pourer and never measure things when I'm cooking.

                            • While having drinks at the Coopers Hotel in Newtown and deciding whether we go to the Maltese Cafe or Rosso Antico for dinner the rain came tumbling down ,we stayed for another drink and i spied out the window of a Chinese restaurant across the road called Best Gourmet, i have often walked past it seeing the mother making dumplings in the window, tonight from the pub you could see there were a few spare tables and we only had to cross the road so i thought no brainer lets try it, great choice, one of the best feeds i had for ages, two big plates of dumplings, sizzling BBQ pork and rice and a bottle of wine off their wine list, came in just under $88 , great value, will be back.
