Thanks, always have a homemade batch of peach sorbet in the freezer , comes in handy. Bought the dolmades from the deli in the Royal Randwick shopping centre and they are bloody good and they were really cheap.

My parents grew grapes on the drive way The Greek ladies would always get the leaves from us and then come back with delicious home made dolmades

A mate of my father was greek and his mother used to cook up a Greek feast on the Christmas Eve or Christmas night and we would go to their place then when we were young, what i remember was her home made dolmades,, they were great and that's where i got my taste for Taramasalata, i also have memories of her fish cocktails, not sure how she did the batter but they were morish. I miss things like that now.

          • The sauce i did for the seafood was one of the best if not the best i have ever done, a combination of fresh and tinned tomatoes, onion, garlic and oregano and white wine , simple but it was sensational, the mussels and pippies were great and the prawns were good too, nothing left over, feel completely satisfied after that meal.

                Update…

Seasoned the mince with some Masterfoods Tuscan seasoning. Made all the difference.

                Yum!

lols , i made a spag bol the other night and decided to put some vegemite and white wine in the sauce, blahhhh the worst one i have ever made, the vegemite i thought may give it a more beefy flavour but that combined with the white wine just made it blahhhh. I have sometimes done the sauce with just white wine before and it has come out ok but the vegemite just added a different level to it i didn't like.

I just love it and even the major restaurant and burger joints sell their sauces in the supermarkets. Love the TGI Fridays and Red Robbin sauces.

Yes not sure what possessed me to put vegemite in it, it was just the jar of vegemite in the fridge had just a couple of scrapes left in the jar, not enough for a piece of toast so i put some water in the jar and added it to the mince, lol never again.
Yes about the burgers too, had a cheeseburger at Vics meat the other day and the butcher section had the sauce they put on it on sale in the shop, also had the potato buns they used for sale too.

The only thing I put Vegemite in is a homemade beef pie. It is Dad’s recipe and he said it was his special ingredient. Only a small amount though.

Yes and so much better for a burger than those sickly brioche buns you sometimes get.

Agreed. Those brioche one’s are too hard. Potato buns are usually soo soft and easy to eat. The only downside is, if you are creating a burger with a lot on it, they don’t hold too well.

Yes i was keeping this little bit for a stew or casserole but had a light bulb moment and put it in the spaghetti sauce, epic failure . I kept the mustard jars when just about empty to make different salad dressing with them.
