That is one of the perfect winter dishes.

    • Stew smelling good and meat and potatoes are nice and tender. Just having /had pickled octopus, smoked kingfish, olive bread, caper berries and artichoke with a glass of bubbles before hand and decanting a nice red for the stew.

Thanks and it was MR, very nice, it was a simple recipe but i followed it to the letter ( barring adding the carrots ), it was the first time i had cooked it so when its like that i follow the recipe and then can work out after the first time whether it is worth making again or tweeking it a bit, would definitely make it again, just simple flavours but packed a punch and so hearty, just served it with some green beans, zucchini and broccoli .

          • We went to a Vietnamese community function where m my son shared a Vietnamese poem that he wrote and did some awesome magic tricks.

For me dinner (sold by some local restaurants in take-away boxes) included meatballs with vermicelli and a dessert of coconut & beans.

Solid feast. I then had a nice warm bat at home, while listening to a running poddie and sipping a beer.

That’s exactly what I do when trying out a new recipe. First decide if it’s worth continuing with, and if so tweak it if necessary with each additional cook until I’m happy with it.

Maybe you should coach the Roosters MR with that sort of modus operandi.

Easier done with food ingredients Jack, not so easy with humans lol. Also I only have to deal with the family critiquing my results not the media and the whole of the Chookpen

                    • Well it was Maccas tonight. Luckily for us, the Faiders scored in the power play so we got 2 for one meal deals!

                      • Stuffed Zucchini , stuffed a huge zucchini with lamb mince and the scooped out zucchini pulp and baked in the oven with passata. Bloody good.

                        • Cheat dinner tonight, cheap breakfast sausages with a jar of pasta sauce ( from Ricardoes tomatoes Port Macquarie ), easy dinner in front of the footie tonight.

On a side night had the left over zucchini and lamb mince for lunch yesterday, the flavour had come through more, loved it.

                          • Takeaway night for us tonight so I get the night off. Your zucchini and lamb mince meal sounds yummo Horrie.

Was thinking about take away tonight too MR, probably pizza. Usually my shifts on a Friday i finish between 6 pm -7 pm so it is usually take away where i pick up some noodles and dumplings from one of the places in the centre i work at, or if not the better half will whip up a quick stir fry or make the lamb and risoni meatballs, just food easy to eat but with today i finished at 1pm i thought i would make something at home as we are out the next two nights in a row so thought just make something very easy instead of take away, just some lap food in front of the footie.

The zucchini and lamb mince was a winner, i will make it again but might leave it for a day or two so the flavour goes through it more.

                              • Slapped up a green curry for dinner. Really nice to eat a warm and spicy dinner on a clear, chilly evening.
