      • Just cut some potato wedges which have just gone into the oven and going to bake a couple of small leatherjacket fish in with them later and make a simple green salad to have on the side.

          • Wow i have just had a trip down memory lane, partner didn't feel like the desert that came with lunch in hospital, it was called milk jelly so i took it home so it didn't get wasted, had the first mouth full and i thought i remember this as a kid but couldn't quite put my finger on it even though it felt familiar and then it dawned on me it was junket, my mother used to make junket deserts when i was young, don't think i really have had it since about 1970. Somehow i strangely enjoyed eating it again as it felt comforting and something that has been basically lost in the past.

            • Had roast chook tonight with roast potatoes, carrot and cauliflower with cheese sauce. It was for my mum as it was one of her favourite dishes and she passed 4 years ago on Thursday.

Used to be always Pink Junket - we would have it with tin peaches, apricots, pineapple or pears with blue ribbon vanilla ice cream.

In Winter we would have self saucing puddings - black currant , blueberry, toffee or chocolate with blue ribbon vanilla ice cream

Matter of fact no matter what the dessert was and even if cakes - there was always several scoups of blue ribbon vanilla ice cream

Sometimes just blue ribbon vanilla cream as well with a sweet Italian liqueur (Marsala) poured over it like a topping - My Father used to get from Italians he worked with at the PMG

Always 3 course meals as well.

Yes most often the junket would be pink ( not sure whether it was a raspberry or strawberry flavour ) or sometimes just plain white with a sprinkle of nutmeg on it, back in those days we had Devondale ice cream in a tin which featured a real cool looking cat on the label.
Lol about the marsala, think the first alcoholic drink i had besides a KB was marsala and coke, i am horrified at the thought of drinking it with coke now/. At home now i use it mainly to marinate strawberries in for desert or chuck some in the spag bol sauce instead of red wine, i don't mind making a sauce with it when having veal but haven't made that for a long time.

It was a good trip down memory lane and enjoyed it, gave me good memories of growing up in Paddington in the 60's
