Wanted to do a roast seeing with got the new oven but it's been to warm, even today its only 24 c but so humid, thank goodness for the air conditioner.
Good job. We have the opposite with the weather here. It’s really dry. We are in desperate need of some really good rain. Wrong thread I know..

Isn't it funny, if you go to an unknown Chinese restaurant for the first time beef and black bean sauce is almost one of the most reliable dishes that they cannot really f*ck up, the better half will always order that especially from a first time unknown place and i will generally go with chicken and cashew nuts for the same reason, that or BBQ pork with plum sauce,

          • If I won a $20 million lotto and became a megalomaniac, i'd have my own personal Chinese chef living with me.

Its like Sydney has its own mini climate now , before you would only get humidity in January and early Feb but now it seems to start very late October or right on November and lasts to mid to late March.
And if the forum police want to pick up that we are talking about weather in the dinner thread well, pffft

I think Starlo lives down at Tuross. I've never been and always drive past it on the way to Narooma. I'll definitely go one day.
Steve Starling is one of the persons i have the most respect for when it comes to the fishing fraternity , i could watch his shows for hours years back. I used to like IFISH when Lee Rayner was on it with Paul Worsteling but after Lee left the show i found Paul became totally over bearing and me me me, when Lee was on the show they were a good duo but after he left Paul started to become unbearable and thought he was a Hollywood star.

I like Starlo. He's a gun fisho! His new solo episodes on You Tube are great.

My Wife and I took her Parents out to a Chinese restaurant in Moscow many years ago - Not sure what to expect - It was called Mr Lee's

                    We had a banquet of

                    Spring Rolls/Dim Sims/Prawn Dumplings

                    Mongolian Lamb
                    Crispy Skin Chicken
                    Salt and Pepper Squid
                    King Prawns with Chilli Sauce
                    Roasted Pork in Plum Sauce
                    Szechuan Beef
Beef and Black Bean Sauce - my choice as an additional dish - always have to have it for some reason as well
                    Steamed Rice

Fried Ice-cream - surprised it was on the menu but always a favourite of mine at least when dining out - they don't include it in takeaways

It didn't taste any different to what we would have back in Australia.

I remember seeing Starlo at a fishing clinic or boating show many years ago and was amazed how down to earth and knowledgeable he was and happy to share the information he had from a life time of fishing, and you could see his love and passion and he was totally genuine.

Isn't it funny how the Western style Chinese menu translate all across the world as basically the same, its great comfort food.

As for deep fried ice cream i really think the reason they don't deliver it is the whole thing could completely melt and disintegrate by the time it is delivered and also it is a desert and usually you would have it after you have enjoyed your Chinese feast which would mean even it the whole lot was delivered in 15 mins by the time you got around to the ice cream course it would be puddles inside the crumbs, its something you couldn't put into the freezer once delivered because it would destroy the other ingredients integrity of the desert then.

Back in the late 60 s in the Chinese restaurants around the Bondi Junction area we went to they never had deep fried ice cream then but i loved the banana fritters and ice cream which was the main desert.

Starlo's either had media training or he's a natural. He can articulate he thoughts well which makes him very watchable and a great teacher.
