    Sounds complicated but it isn't.

Sear your meat and potatoes. Aprox 500gms beef. 4 potatoes cut to bite size pieces.
Place into a pressure cooker or pot.
Add Woolies Massaman Beef Spice Trader ingredients.
    Steam your rice.

Ready in 40 minutes to 1 hour and restaurant quality.
Have a couple of tins of Maesri masaman curry paste in the pantry for when i attempt either a beef or chicken masaman.
Speaking of masaman had a decent beef one in Berry on Saturday night but the stand out dish was the chilli king prawns, beautiful whole prawns with their heads still on, was a delight sucking the juice and meat from inside the heads..

Add 4 cardamon pods to make it the hero dish !
With only two in my household i reckon a rice cooker would just sit in the cupboard. Unless making a risotto which is an entirely different rice and technique we rarely cook rice in the house, the last time i cooked it was when i made apricot chicken and just used the absorption method. Did use one of those Coles rice satchets in the microwave.for something about a year ago but cant even remember what for but it was the perfect amount for what was needed for.

I looked for a recipe for masamam curry recently and it mentioned the maesri paste. So was going to use that. Then coincidentally Bates mentioned the Spice Tailor kits.

I understand that they're not for everyone and in my kitchen bench space is at a premium. The rice cooker lives under the sink. Only 2 in our household also . As a typically focused, non multi tasking male brained individual it's been a revelation though . I use it every week and it produces perfect cooked rice with no skill required, allowing me to focus on rhe curry . And yes those micro wave sachets are good and easy too . Love a good Massaman Curry .Doing a fiery Goan banana prawn curry tonight with Aussie prawns from Karumba, with rice

          • I can't believe the price of rice and olive oil these days. Farking outrageous!

            • Marinating chicken strips in lemon, garlic and oregano and will have them with some home made wedges and a thrown together salad of a few different things.

                • Curried sausages but not really the weather for it. But unfortunately I chose it before I knew our aircon would stop working in the middle of a heatwave.

With olive oil I only buy it when it’s half price or thereabouts these days. When I know I’m getting low I start looking for specials. Even at half price or 40% off the cost is still ridiculous.

Apart from risotto we rarely use rice in our house, stir fries we use hokkien noodles and even with curried sausages we have them by themselves. Will definitely use rice when we make a massaman though and it was good with my apricot chicken.

Can't even remember where i picked up the maesri paste but thought it would be handy to knock up a massaman. Just found we have a home made hot peach chutney we bought up the coast over a year ago which might be nice with some sought of curry.

I noticed Coles and woollies both sell the Maesri. I’d say the peach chutney would make a great curry.

That was my mums specialty. She was so organised! We had a room which I called The Bunker and it was full of the essentials purchased when they were on special. Olive Oil, Veg Oil, Rice, Pasta, Tomato Paste etc

Lol, that’s me. I’m very pedantic about my household budget.
