Speaking of oysters, some of the best in the world come from where you were having your family break on the South coast.

So glad we have nothing to do Christmas wise when we get home, booked in for Christmas Lunch at one of the CBD hotels. May just have a nice mezze dinner or picnic Christmas Eve and have most things already at home for that unless i want to indulge in some oysters but wont worry if i dont have any as i will be having plenty Christmas Day.

Yes the oysters down Merimbula way are supposed to be really good. As I don’t like oysters I cannot confirm this though lol. Fishing is supposed to be great there too and I know you’ve mentioned your love of fishing here before. I remember as a kid we’d head down to Dalmeny which is near Naraooma, not far from Merimbula, Eden etc. Dad also loved a bit of fishing and he bought cheap rods for me and my siblings. We’d all go fishing and he would have his own rod while also helping the three of us whenever we had a nibble and potential catch. Such great memories. Dad was so patient with us all.
Think why i like Stuarts Point/ Grassy Head so much apart from it was where i caught my first fish on a handline down near the South West Rocks breakwall which was a whiting was that i had a lovely aunty living here which i had a strong connection with when i was young until she passed away a few years back, such a lovely person and while she was never my fathers favourite i had an instant connection to.

He has a Yabbie flavoured one and I'm curious to see how it performs.

One year i think it was 1978 my father decided on Lake Dalmeny, it seemed to takes ages to get there , we had a nice duplex there as another family we knew stayed there also, my main memories was a huge funnel web spider in the bedroom which we caught in a jar and then pickled. One of the children of the other family caught a nice flathead off the wharf of the property , dont remember much more apart from Turross Lakes looking stunning and the beautiful milkshakes at Bodalla. So really looking forward to doing a bit more time there in my retirement.

Anniversary tomorrow (Wed ) and would have gone to Lindas if we were in Sydney but seeing we are up in a small coastal town we have the choice of the local tavern or Chinese at the bowling club for dinner. A BBQ wont cut it tomorrow so leaning towards the Chinese but will have some prawns and oysters on the balcony with a glass of bubbles before heading to the club.
