After SC's recommendation, Got all todays jobs done lawns, moving sheep etc.. Then got some live Costi mussels, Crushed tomatoes, garlic, chilli, basil, simmered down to very thick\almost sticking, steamed mussels in own juices, added mussels to thickened sauce with a glass of white wine including the strained juices from the mussels, heated and mixed through then tipped onto a large serving tray, garnished with fresh parsley and washed it down with a beer watching the sun go down over the ranges as a rainbow broke through distant clouds, the smell of fresh cut grass and thinking of the possibility of another Roosters MP... Can't beat that! Thanks for the tip SC.. Best arvo I've had in months.

I know this is a chain but had the most amazing pasties and sides plus a really good beer and wine list, it had the feel of a little hole in the wall local restaurant/bar, so laid back and really good food, totally unexpected.
You've probably already heard about it horrie, but the "yelp" app is bible in some areas of the states.

How many kg are you planning to put on during your trip?

Yes I can feel the kilos or should I say pounds seeing in America now stacking on already. The place I am staying in Palm Springs has breakfast, lunch and dinner included in the price, just going to check out the breakfast now

Got in a little late to Palm Springs for dinner at the resort so ended up ordering zucchini sticks and pizza , zucchini sticks were beautiful deep fried morsels, pizza was ok but it was great just eating it around the pool with a glass of wine.
Temp is currently 30c at 8.30 am and supposed to get to 40c today. Temps tomorrow is a cooler 35 c

Typical American breakfast, bacon, waffles, omelettes. Had omelette, fried potato and some home made quiche, actually quite nice and all the bubbly you could drink. Meeting friends out for dinner tonight so wont get to try dinner here but I think its just a basic bbq , lunch today here will be just hot dogs so probably wont rush back for that if my day of shopping and sight seeing take longer than expected but I think by the time it hits 40c the pool and air conditioning will be calling.

Hit LA today, Palm Springs was nice but with the temps still around 102 f and the last meal mainly being vodka and cranberry[lost count of how many], it is finally nice to be in bearable temps of the high 80's in LA. Nice drive in from Palm Springs to LA, settled in in West Hollywood now, just going to do a city tour tomorrow to work out where I want to go over the next 5 days, just did a quick walk around the area I am staying and had a burger smothered with horseradish and brie in the place next to my hotel and a great cocktail with tea flavoured vodka and lemonade, it was one of the most morish cocktails I have ever had.
I have never been to LA before and my travelling buddy hasn't been since 1994 so looking forward to exploring more.
Cant believe that a week has passed already

Sensational but too hot without the Dolmio.

Had corned beef with mac cheese and steamed broccoli for lunch at the farmers market in LA for lunch, corned beef was yummmm also.
Wonder what crap I am going to eat at Disneyland tomorrow ? don't really want to go but being taken along kicking and screaming which will probably mean I will really enjoy it

Made a cauliflower puree, very simple tastier than mash, but some wicked ingredients. 1 300ml tub of cream in a saucepan, add cauliflower and boil til soft, throw in salt and butter, hit with stick blender. Sensational. I had it with fried brussel sprouts(done on a fry pan with butter until caramelised) and some scotch fillet. Sounded healthy until the butter and cream came into it.

Met up with a local who took us to a little hole in the wall in LA where we had fish tacos, tempura squid and salmon, roast chicken, pork spare ribs, all good but the fish tacos and spare ribs were yummy and it came to $20 a head even with 20% tip, best meal in LA that I have had so far. Heading down to Venice beach tomorrow, hopefully I can stay up late enough tonight to stream the Roosters game.

Its funny, saw Krispy crèmes in Las Vegas but none in LA yet , yeah the bucket size soft drinks I saw advertised everywhere around Vegas and Palm Springs would do my head in, haven't seen that much of it here in LA as much but staying down on Santa Monica blv at West Hollywood where it is hip and happening, I don't think the muscle marys around here would support much fast food dining, there seems to be nice cafes attached to all the gyms here, a nice area to walk around and great shops, mind you I am sure it would be very different downtown.
