      • I had a pizza. We've been prepping our house to sell and are all sick (not COVID but I've been running a hedge trimmer, shovelling ~4 cubic metres of gravel around, patching up all our carpenter's shyte paintwork...etc non-stop for a week now and am frigging spent).

        Meh, pizza hit the spot.

Nothing wrong with that. I have to have the gluten free ones and I must say they are lighter and quite tasty too these days. I did however fall asleep in the middle of the Warriors game last week after having one from using a Door Dash gift card.. It was lovely with mushrooms, olives and spinach.

Will check out the Hawkers butcher when i'm in Canberra next, have mates who live in Hawker and i usually stay with them when i come down to Canberra, i like checking out butchers when i'm away to find different sausages and risoles to take home, i love sausage and risoles that can stand up by themselves without having to add sauce.
You'll have to come over one day..the other place I loved closed down in 2020 sadly..I've been having a lot of barramundi, ling fillets and that snapper I was telling you about a while back from Harris Farm..when I cooked it, it reminded me of Mum & Dad. I never ate fish until I was 17 as I never could stand the smell..now it's all I eat..

              • Making burgers today out of patties with black beans, caramelised onions and beetroot (supermarket bought) but then adding herbed mushrooms, spinach, chilli jam and camembert.

                • Had roast pork shoulder last night, with roast potato, sweet potato, parsnip, eschalot, beans and squash and also roast peach.

Before that had dolemades and baba ganoush which i bought at Orange Grove markets and also had caper berries.

I have always loved fish and used to go fishing a lot and catch bream, flathead, whiting and leatherjackets amongst a few other species.
Apart from Coral Trout and Pearl Perch being great eating fish and a rare treat because of the price and availability in Sydney, my favourite eating fish are leatherjacket , gurnard and blackfish. . Whiting Flathead and flounder rate highly also, snapper and John Dory aren't to shabby either.
When i go to Lifeboat on the Hawkesbury if they have gurnard on the menu i will order it, i reckon it out rates flathead , it is a lesser known fish but is starting to become more known now commercially.

Smooth dory fillets are delicious. I think snapper used to put me off because it's not pretty to look at...but it sure cooks up nicely..

Snapper are one of the prettiest fish to catch, beautiful pinky colour and some lovely blue spots on the pink. Of course they lose that look once they are filleted.

Yes they turn ugly...LOL...ah my teenage judgemental self refused to eat ugly fish...I still find them unattractive but once you cook them up with extra virgin olive oil, lemon, herbs, salt and pepper..delicious...

                          • Do you think Meatloaf would have minded if I eat my gluten free vegan burger whilst watching his Classic Albums episode now?

When i fish for leatherjackets there are quite a few different varieties, one day i caught five different types of leatherjacket, some are beautiful looking fish and some are ugly but they all taste so nice on the plate.
