Best catches for whiting have been Evans Head, Port Macquarie, Stuarts Point, Sydney Harbour, Botany Bay.

Good luck with them! Not sure if we have anything g similar over on the coast here.

When I lived in Qatar, I used to get local flathead (Wahar) which was strange as it was only meant to inhabit the south eastern pacific and some parts of the Indian Ocean. To see them in the Persian gulf was a real surprise. They were very unknown at the time and as such, you could buy them for next to nothing at the markets on the docks. I used to pay about $1.20 a kg. They make amazing fish tacos!

When i was in Greece on one of the islands i had a fish which looked very similar to our black bream here, was done on the BBQ and it tasted very similar to the black bream also.

Don't really fish much these days but about to get back into it a bit, going to take the hand line down to my favourite wharf in the harbour and fish for leatherjackets, just happy if i get a couple for a feed and it is so relaxing..

The spot in the Botany Bay where i caught a few whiting and bream i may check out again sometime soon as it is not to far from home but where i used to pump for yabbies near that spot has been swallowed up by the expansion of the port so if i want fresh nippers i have to go further afield to get them or shock horror buy them.

No I don’t actually. Usually just the floret parts. There’s no reason why I shouldn’t though as it is a waste not to use the whole lot.

No i haven't Mickie but was checking it out on line the other day for a possible place for an anniversary lunch or dinner, i walked past it many months ago doing the bay walk and thought what a nice outlook where it was. Is it any good food wise ? menu looks ok.

I love it mate. I rate the food & It’s not overly expensive plus like you said it’s got a lovely outlook.
You’re still at the same place aren’t you. I’m back in Russell Lea myself.

Thanks mate, it just looked good and as you say the menu isn't overly expensive, will definitely check it out sometime soon. Been in St Peters for almost 26 years now.
