Who are you Lib supporters going to vote for now as Tony Scabbot shows they are nothing but sheep when it comes to decision making?

        http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news...-1225808430573

Mr Abbott won the Liberal leadership last week after opposing Labor's emissions trading scheme (ETS). He has since ruled out supporting any ETS or carbon tax.

But last night he admitted the Coalition may consider putting a price on carbon if the United States acted.

"Plainly that would change a lot because the United States is at the heart of the international economy.

How unusual Abbott making it up on the run.....

Abbott made $250b climate cost blunder'

Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has been accused of a major costings blunder by claiming Australians could be slugged $400 billion under a plan leaked at the UN climate talks in Copenhagen.

According to the draft plan, Australia would be asked to lower its emissions by 25 per cent within a decade.

Mr Abbott, who last week reneged on a deal with the government to pass its emissions trading scheme (ETS), said the plan could see Australians pay billions of dollars more under Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's climate change strategy.

"Just to get a five per cent reduction in emissions Mr Rudd wants to whack a $120 billion tax on us," Mr Abbott told reporters in Brisbane on Wednesday.

"To get a 15 per cent or 25 per cent reduction in emissions, on Mr Rudd's logic, it's going to be an even bigger tax - perhaps a $300 or $400 billion dollar tax."

But the claims are in stark contrast to treasury modelling released last year suggesting the total cost of permits to achieve a 15 per cent target by 2020 would be around $150 billion.

Australia has committed to reducing carbon emissions by between five and 25 per cent by 2020.

Assistant Climate Change Minister Greg Combet said Mr Abbott had made a huge blunder in his climate change costings.

"In his desperation to run a scare campaign against action on climate change, Mr Abbott has made a $250 billion costings error," he said.

The opposition leader could not be trusted on climate change, Mr Combet said.

"Mr Abbott has no climate change policy. He will say anything and do anything to keep his climate change scare campaign going."

Mr Combet said the government would honour its commitment to households under the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS), regardless of what emissions reduction target was adopted.

More than eight million households would receive direct cash assistance while all pensioners, carers and people with a disability would be fully compensated for cost-of-living increases resulting from the scheme.

The CPRS is set to be re-introduced into the Senate in February after being voted down earlier this month.

                Chook.
Massive 5 point drop for Rudd in Week 1 of December alone. Abbott up 9 points!!! yep things are looking great for Kev. the ETS is his Workchoices. The people will eat him alive, if the coconuts at Coppenhagen dont first.

Obviously you need to realise you have no idea what you're talking about! Do you know how an ETS works? What a cap and trade scheme is? Go and educate yourself.

It's easy to know where the money is coming from if you know what you're talking about. Maybe you and Elo can educate each other? lol

It was a pretty simple question Chook..

You appear to be the only person here that understands it..

Why not have a go at giving an answer..

If the government is talking about a 15% reduction costing 150 billion

Then obviously a 25% reduction that Abbott was talking about is going to cost more?

                                so his figures were accurate?

My point is he just makes it up where he has no clue or anything to substantiate his claims.
