For the same reason all PMs go to church and try and project an image of strong family values. Its good politics to get the green vote.

So you're fine with being duped, as long as it's done by the Libs and not Labor eh?

I didn't realise you were Piers Akerman!

    Chook.

The only ones being duped are the enviromentalists who actually think the libs are going to do anything serious towards an ETS.

In reality they won't implement a thing, or if they do it will be little more than tokenism without any actual effect on the economy.

Rudd, on the other hand, desperately wants to push through a bill to tax the shit out of our best industries and cripple our competitve edge on the world stage for little reason other than to get a few pats on the back in copenhagen.

If he really cared about saving the environment he would have called a DD by now to try and get a mandate on the ETS. As it stands, since he has missed his big pay off at Copenhagen already, its been happily placed on the back burner.

So they can put up prices whenever they want and have an excuse that they are covering the costs of the permits

I'm taking a stab in the dark here....

But it could be the billions of dollars in tax payer money that these businesses stand to receive in government subsidies.

Why do you ask such stupid questions?

              Chook.
              LOl!

ITS A TAX ON POLLUTERS?? LOLOL. The concessions Wong and Rudd jumped at killed that one. teh cost would be passed onto you and I. And with no jobs how would you and I pay for it? I love mother nature. Love her rivers and her Oceans. Love the bush. But I am not going to fall for a scam like you have mate.

Its a Tax. That you and I will pay dearly for. And you know what? its dead. rudd hasnt got teh balls for a DD and he hasnt got the numbers. Every poll has him languishing on this policy alone. Imagine if all the othrr ****tard policies were challenged by real opposition?

Being in the political wilderness for 15 years has not only fried the labor Party's brains but also their dellusional supporters.

Chook, Sorry doesnt cut it. It does nothing. Its done nothing.

Rudds done nothing. but go ahead and rejoice...you dont have long left in power.

I've been a Labor voter all my life but this is testing me. If a DD had been

called, I would vote Liberal. The ETS is nothing more than a bullshit tax that

will do nothing to reduce carbon. All it will do is send us all broke for no other

reason than to fill the hole in Rudd's spending which it is designed to do

under the guise of saving the Earth.

All the believers in the ETS need to do some reading and stop blindly

                following Labor.

Why do you think Penny Wong's got no answers to any questions!?

our prime minister is demonstrating the decorum and credibility that differentiates this government from the last, the pm said he'd last the term and he will, he has a mandate from the people unlike mr gst howard and he will use that mandate for the good of all Australians! i was under the impression the tories agreed and via handshake said they would support the current bill in the senate, what did the lying creeps do? vote it down! perhaps our honest pm will call a double dissolution at end of term, its his legal right to do so now! end of tory dominated senate, perhaps a few greens will take their place?

                        Labor Lies

Abbott was Health Minister for 4 years and did not touch abortion funding
                        Abbott said workchoices is dead
Church control wtf are you talking about
Censorship is that like the censorship Labor are trying to get through internet filtering or the censorship of the oppositions newsletters sent to there constituents or the censorship of Clive Spash of the CSIRO who spoke out against the governments ETS.

                            give me a ****ing break.
Rudd is a despot and a bloody control freak that has displayed no decorum and has no credibility.
Infact all he has done lately is nothing, and why is that ?
because he has been overseas again

Don't even try and say the man has any honour, very few politicians do and this guy is one of the worse.

You do realise that Howard took the GST to the 1998 election right?

Labor ran series of scare mongering ads on it, I recall one featuring weightlifters from other countries who have a GST struggling to life a bar, then having the australian lifter stepping up to the plate.

The election was even dubbed a referendum on the GST. The liberals won the election, and Howard then implemented the GST.

but don't let that get in the way of a good old fashioned rant

i cant speak personally of him since ive never met the man, i can of many other pms including john howard.
with rudd out of the country julia ios getting lots of practise for her next job?
i to disagree with internet censorship, im not a pornographer but i will stand up for an open internet!
without hansard in front of me i am unable to comment on abbots previously stated conservative views, im sure hell be put to the test as opposition leader, i do hope he stays the leader for some time now as our system of government needs a strong opposition, in some ways it was labors fault that the howard government ruled so supreme, we did not supply a strong opposition , however eventually we got our act together, the rest is history!Personally i have great problems campaigning against our local mp, even though he is a liberal, he went to the same school as me , we were both in bronte surf club and both played for the same rugby club, now hes found the sharks i give him hell over that as he grew up in waverly and was an easts fan! as you can see its nothing personal, just personal preferences? i was in the unioin movement, he was director of tourism australia , you might remember where the bloody hell are you ad? i do vividly recall those immortal words of john winston howard" no gst, not ever"!I wondered how he called a mandate after achieving a lower primary vote than labor in that election, als pm kim wasw never meant to be!
