  • What bands have you seen....

I did a quick search and cant find a thread on the subject so do tell, what bands have you seen, either recently, or over the years....

Just last night I saw Jon Stevens in all his glory at Rooty Hill RSL.....and Freakin hell he is sooooo hot.....He has just 3 months ago had open heart surgery and this is his get well tour......

He was smokin, and apart from the fact that he had a stool to rest on a fair bit of the time, and had sweat dripping off him...which wanst a bad thing......he was on fire.....

Cant wait for him to be "fully match fit" as he put it and tour again with Noiseworks.....I will be there, front row again........

I'm not a rock fan, so I don't see 'bands' as such.

        Seen:

        - Justin Timberlake @Acer Arena
        - Snoop Dogg @Acer Arena
        - Jurassic 5 @Fox Studios
        - Bloody Beetroots @Home Bar

Also attended Stereosonic at Moore Park a month ago, saw Zombie Nation, Axwell, Chicane, John Dahlback, Fedde Le Grand, and Deadmau5. Missed out on Bloody Beetroors and Crookers unfortunately, but I got to see Bloody Beetroots at Home Bar the week after.

Going to also attend Future Music Festival in March, some great dance and electro acts there too, like Boyz Noize, Booka Shade, The Prodigy, David Guetta, and rock/pop groups Franz Ferdinand and Empire Of The Sun.

I have been a music fan for many years and when I was in my younger years would go and see just about every international act that came to Australia. These days I am a bit more selective depending on the act, the venue and the price.

I have kept a lot of the ticket stubs over the years as well.

            Just a snippet of some:

            Frank Zappa
            U2
            Rolling Stones
            Rush
            10,000 Maniacs
            INXS
            Chisel
ACDC (Back in Black tour - going in Feb too)
            Stevie Ray Vaughan
            Foo Fighters
            PJ Harvey
            Homebake the last 5 years
            George Thorogood
Going to the Blues and Roots next year
            Lyle Lovett
            Jethro Tull
            Neil Young
            REM
            Tool
            Children Collide
            British India
Both Narara festivals - back in '83 and '84
I used to hang at the Astra at Bondi when it was open and saw a LOT of bands there....

            Love my music....

Alot of the bands I've seen have been at festivals but I do prefer sideshows.

              Muse - AMAZING
              Kings Of Leon
              Anberlin
              Snow Patrol
              Hellogoodbye
              Copeland
              The Panics
              Little Red
              Stars
              Grinspoon
              Broken Social Scene
              Offspring
              Incubus
              Alexisonfire
              Motion City Soundtrack
              Bloodhound Gang
              Feist
              The Lucksmiths
              The Kills
              The Killers
              Elbow
              Louis XIV
              M83
              The Presets
Ian Moss (I sung with him in someone's backyard so that kinda counts)
              The Whitlams
              Reel Big Fish
              Goldfinger
              Less Than Jake
              The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
              Mindless Self Indulgence

I'm sure there's more, my memory is failing me.

              In 2010:
              AC/DC
              Florence + The Machine
              Hopefully Salt'N'Pepa

I'm shattered I'll never see Jeff Buckley perform live.

                The Angels
Pseudo Echo (The band outnumbered the audience)

                Petshop Boys
                Whitney Houston (rubbish)
                John Farnham (support to Whitney)
                Scritti Politti (Don't know why)

                Joe Jackson (fun!!)
                Mental As Anything
                Dragon
                Cold Chisel
Sister Sister / Baby Loves to Cha Cha (local Sydney bands, did covers, just fun)
The Cockroaches (ha ha ... little did I know)
Midnight Oil (When they used to play at Millers Pub at Brighton)

oh yeah ... Sneaky Sound System, they played our Christmas party a couple of years ago. Does that count?

two more ... Prince (awesome performer) and Madonna (umm ... ok I guess)

Another one: Wayne Newton .... I couldn't get tickets to Ray Charles and went begrudgingly to Wayne Newton. He was awesome, especially when he discovered a group of Aussies sitting in the audience!! Walked out as a fan.

If I haven't missed the context of your question, it was just a great concert in a fantastic atmosphere.

He played the State Theatre, so it was quite compact and you felt he enjoyed his work and being in front of an audience.

                            I will second that.

As a result of this thread, I have dragged one of his albums out and will copy onto my mp3 player.

My brother, who thinks Midnight Oil are mellow, thought I had "come out of the closet" when I came home with the Jumpin' Jive album absolutely loved it.

Footnote: (My brother is roosters fan, which made our footy discussions a trifle terse there for a while.)
