The Cricket just raised over 6 mill.

      Gotta respect that effort.

Don't forget the animals as well.

The photo of the burnt koala on the front page of smh.com.au is making me tear up.

Australias show their true spirit in times of need , I think it's amazing what some people do for people they don't know and will never meet.

The Government, Banks and even the Bastard Insurance companies have been outstanding in their response. Having Centerlink officers on the ground 12 hours after handing out emergency cash to those who had lost everything.

A man was intervierwed last night and said that his insurance company had already paid his claim - pretty good effort to be able to do this in just a few days.

Australia is a pretty amazing nation

It also goes to show what pricks the insurance agancies can be, they can ay out in a matter of days but drag every other poor bastard with a "legitimate" claim for months, i suppose when the evidance is so damning the can be no excuse for delay

It is. There was also a picture of a firefighter with a tiny sugar glider on his shoulder and I almost cried.

So there, I have a heart too.

Even though the human toll is horrific i really feel for the poor animals especially the native ones who also lost their lives in the fire and the ones still out there that are badly burnt without any help available to them.
