only $10 million donated so far. when you consider each family has probably lost $1million worth of property, that amount seems meagre. dig deep everyone. go without one thing, remembering they are going without everything

        I already donated.

News I saw earlier this morning said donations were up to $15M already - be more by now. The donations aren't to cover what they've lost though, that's what insurance is for. The donations are a shorter term help for necessities.

I donated yesterday when I could finally get onto Red Cross site as it crashed due to the overwhelming response.

thanks for the lesson. 15 mill is still nothing. there are over 20 million people in australia. even if only half of them gave $5 we'd have tripled that figure. insurance companies wont pay out for months, i work for one, and those people are gonna need more than 15mil in donations to get them through the shorter term...

There is a telethon on Thursday night so that will push it up. At Optus, they are going to allow us to pay pre tax and match our contribution. Nice.....

I heard this guy on the radio, he owns a charcoal chicken shop.
Even cent that comes over his counter will be going to the Bush Fire victims on a certain day.
That day is also a change free day. So if you buy $15 worth of chickeny stuff with a $20 note, you don't get any change.

This guy needs to be shot at with flaming arrows and then asked how he feels whilst he's burning to death!

Should re-direct the stimulus package to help the victims of the fires, and the QLD floods.

Surely they could re direct $1 billion from the handouts to rebuilding these lives, homes and towns.

Family First are opposing the package anyway but I'll gladly give out my own pocket.
