Well I’m glad you’re in a much better place now. You’ve done so well to get through what sounds like a really tough time. You don’t just learn who you’re friends are during tough times, you learn a lot about yourself and it sounds like you’re a fighter and very resilient. You deserve a break and every happiness now.

Thanks again MR. I found out again who my real friends are this week as I finally have been offered a temp job starting in August. Can't believe someone would actually be jealous of this after nearly 6 months of looking at age 52 whilst worrying about elderly friends and family with cancer, broken hips etc I wish there was a pill I could give to jealous people to make them get over themselves. After the death of my parents, this past year has been hell and back for me, like so many others around the world, yourself included MR. Job hunting is never easy for anyone at any age, particularly during one of the worst times in our generation's history.

Hi RWB. Congratulations on the job! Unfortunately there will always be people who are self obsessed and think that everything revolves around them. You can see it now with this worldwide pandemic where some people don't even consider how their selfish behaviour can impact others. And yeah, I can relate very much with your comments about losing parents. I can't believe it's almost one year since my Dad passed and our family is now going through the whole thing again as Mum is slowly slipping away from us. Then there's this small thing called a pandemic. Crazy, crazy times and I agree I've never known anything like this in our generation's history. You've done well to find a job. My daughter started looking for her first casual job in February and then you know what hit. I can't see her finding anything anytime soon now. I do hope your job works out well for you.

Thanks very much MR and I know your daughter will find a great job very soon. If she is half the person you are, any employer should be grateful to have her working for them. The jobs we did not get were not right for us. You know my Mum & Dad's anniversaries are so close to one another only years apart and my sister's in-laws both passed in the same week but 5 years apart. I believe they are all together now and safely away from all this craziness we find ourselves living in. I was hoping that this pandemic would make some people kinder and more respectful and more self aware but I guess some people are too stubborn to change or make an effort. They won't be worth my time or energy from now on.

I hope your Mum has a comfortable and restful week MR and take good care of yourself too.

Keep me posted with your daughter's job hunting MR as I feel something is going to change for her very soon. A lot of businesses have a clearer idea now where their needs are in this new financial year and there are lot more options opening up in all cities. Looking for a job is a job in itself and decent people like you daughter who take job hunting seriously and do this with dignity, positivity and professionalism will always get rewarded. Businesses will always look for positive happy people to enhance their workplaces.

Hope your instincts are right RWB. It’s not at all a great time to try and get your first job with the current state of the economy. Not a great time for anyone..

I think this a very good and worthwhile thread.

There is one on another forum I am involved with. Despite our differences on there as members, it unites us as caring, decent human beings.

It is very important to be kind to and considerate of each other, particularly during these particularly challenging times of COVID-19.

I'm ok, just find it hard to post these days.I am trying to sell my house as it's too much property to look after now, and maybe a sea-change will help with the depression.

It's nice to hear from you Eddie and I hope your property sale goes well and that you benefit from a change of scenery. We have one not far from you and we are selling also for much the same reason due to ageing family members. Keep watching the Roosters Eddie and keep safe and well.
