Indeed. I truly believe that a Donkey Vote is a viable political statement in this era.

That's what I did in the last Fed Election, it pains me to say. No options, aye?

It doesn't matter what your political inclinations are, surely you can't vote for Newman - He just looks like a poor mans Elmer J Fudd.....

This is either going to get closed or moved.

I used to be a cynical, screw everyone, who cares if I vote kind of child. Then I saw that Chinese fellow with the bag standing in front of that tank during the Tiananmen Square murders (for that's what they were) and I realised that people actually frigging die for the right to vote. So correct or wrong, I have always voted in every election since and joined a political party namely the ALP with the intent to change things from within. That was before I realised that both parties are as corrupt as the bastards who ordered the murder of the protestors in Tiananmen square.
          SUPER DRAGON!

I think they were at least elected by the people unlike a recent "occupant" of the position which we had to endure?

I typically agree with Johnny and Steve regarding Donkey Voting, but when you are truly disenfranchised to vote for the least of two evils simply gives wind to their sails. Dumb example I know, but it's like backing Stalin because Hitler's a cnut.

If enough politically astute folk abstained as a protest, perhaps our leaders might start to create policy that makes a difference to those in need.

Johnny. I saw an interview with that fellow as he now resides in the USA as a political refugee. Interestingly, he said the first thing he did when he became a US citizen was buy a gun. His reasoning was in China the Govt has all the weapons and therefore the control. He said it is everyone's right to own a gun to defend themselves from corrupt Govts.

His thinking helped open my mind to Gun control point of view.
PS I don't want this message to sidetrack into gun control. I'm just passing a very interesting insight. Worth tracking down on Youtube if you can find the time.

See, that's the problem with democracy. Gun loons actually have a voice.

although the one thing I agreed with howard on was his move to bring inj some gun control, we now have the situation where the baddies and crooks all have guns but the innocents ie good guys gave theirs back? interesting that it was conservative who introduced gun control in Australia, even though im a member of the alp, I have no doubt we would have stuffed up the management of that too?
although even though I handed in a semi auto .22 I got paid for a shotgun, same band of Austrian weapon, so it wasn't just the alp who stuffs up stuff?

                        .
                        I reckon.
Shame in a way, coz it was fairly interesting.
And the off season is in full swing.

Talking of that, I guess I'd be classed as a swinging voter, and prefer politics and sport to be on two different planets.
Only coz it's leads to negative debates on a open forum such as this.

                        Yet I wonder.
If politics leads to more offence than sporting rivalry, Why do some members get away with offensive sigs, that are only in place to create the type of debate that closes threads?

I've kinda worked out what discussions belong in what section, and I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed.
And I realise that I helped contribute to the demise of this thread.

                        Sorry
