  • Sin Bin History

Who was the first person to be sent to the sin bin in the NRL? I think I know the answer. Used to play with Norths? I work with the guy but am not is it is fair dinkum. He did play for Norths at one time though.

    Any idea from the historians?

I believe it was Newtown Jets hooker Barry Jensen in 1981...

Our own Jeff Masterman was referred to as Madam Sin (by the media) during the 1981 season because he made quite a few visits to the newly instituted sin bin.

Not the most accurate source, but Wikipedia has the first ever player to sin-binned was Newtown hooker Barry Jensen in 1981. He only played for Newtown and Illawarra Steelers. Retired in 1982.

        Crikey.
