I never knew what "souvlaki" was till reading this, but had heard the word on tv shows. We get them from chicken shops, but they're made from chicken and not lamb and they're just called kebabs.
Never even heard the term "yiros" before, they're doner kebab and chicken kebab down this way.

a souvla originated in turkey. It means skewer. It was adopted by the greeks during 400 years of ottoman rule. Greeks add the aki on the end the ofwords to describe the item as little so souvlaki means little skewer.Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.
