  • Cops are pricks

That would make a good car sticker.

A university student's parting shot at a Bondi Junction police officer has reignited debate over what constitutes offensive language.

Science student Henry Grech, 22, had an offensive language charge against him reportedly cleared in Waverley Local Court yesterday after NSW magistrate Robbie Williams decided the word "prick" would not offend a "reasonable person".

Wood Royal commission ****ed the police force. Now young dipshits can get away with anything.

There is no respect for police at all these days, yet we expect them to enforce the law.

The young bloke should of copped the full fine for acting like a dumb ****.

Clearly the student did nothing illegal in the first place and was incensed by the officer. If the police want some respect they should show some respect.

So, we all can go around calling cops pricks?
I was taught to respect authority from a young age. They deserve respect just by doing the job they do. They don't have to earn it by putting up with scummy spoilt teenagers.

This is the reason why coppers are leaving the force in big numbers, thankless job and on top you have to put up with ignorant assholes all day, with next to no power to deal with it.

Sorry Dice, the student was the prick.
If innocent people have to be asked some questions to stop the odd person who is doing the wrong thing, whats the problem with that. How hard is it to be polite, obviously too hard for this idiot student. If he was my kid, I would not be impressed at all

The cop should be a role of authority, to me this means you respect them.

This is another pathetic excuse from someone that thinks the world owes them.

KB, many cops suffer from small-man syndrome and like to abuse their authority. I have experienced this personally on a handful of occasions where cops provoke in an "i dare you to react" manner. Twats like this have no respect and don't deserve any respect in return. The remaining cops that go about their work in a professional and respectful manner deserve all the respect in the world for putting their lives on the line to protect our society.

I would be very surprised if any civilian would call a police officer a prick just for the sake of it.

when the highway patrolman is writing your ticket you can think whatever you wish! you just know whatever you say is not going to stop him! that is the test of a reasonable person, perhaps the misguided student has some vocabulary issues from attending sad or dogs games?

I agree Dice we have all come across those cops that are not individually deserving of respect. I am getting visions of Cartman saying "you will respect my arrtharriteee"

Unfortunately there are plenty of younger generation that would call a cop loads of things, mainly because they feel they are owed by society.

Next time you come across this type of policeman, just bite the lip and try to consider what he may have come across prior to your meeting.
They put up with human garbage and he may still be affected by it, it's a far from perfect attitude, but try and give them some benefit of the doubt.

In my experience, every cop I have come across, arrogant or not, will treat you right if you display a polite attitude.

Stephenj -HWP just really enjoy their job :P

                        I'm on neither side here.
The student is probably an arrogant wanker, but are cops really that precious that they can't handle being called names? Have a ****ing cry...they have more important things to deal with. Power trip.

If you call a doctor a prick after he has "had a hard day", you will not be charged..

Your football coach who volunteers his time can be called a prick without charges being laid..

The waiter who has been working night and day to feed his 8 children can be called a prick with no consequence..

I am sure KRudd has been called a lot worse in the last week also...

                          Sticks and stones coppers.....

It's more about sticks and stones, without respect police lose authority, which makes policing all more difficult. Society is going to shit because people actually think that type of behaviour acceptable.

I don't think he should have a criminal record out of it, its just the sort of incident that a trip in the paddy wagon and a spell at the cop shop would have dealt with.

Nothing wrong with the yellow pages either, I know a few people that got that, and they were all the better for it
