Yeah he is ok,tried to pull a branch off a tree that wouldn't come and ended up falling backwards and impaling himself on another branch.I knew Kingscliff was pretty close but we were at the hospital in about 10 mins or so,so it was much closer than i thought. The friends place is right next to Salt so it was nice just strolling over to the pub while there.

Ouch mate, that sounds nasty. I shudder to think where it may have impaled him.

My wife works for the group that owns The Kingscliff Hotel, on the main drag of Kingy. They also have The Chinderah and The Coolie Sands. Lovely spots for a beer and a few prawns.

Did you happen to get to any of those establishments mate??? Salts a bit further on from The Kingy.

I do like the old salt and pepper squid,a few years ago it was a specialty in only a few places but everywhere seems to have it on the menus these days, there is a place in the south end of Newtown where the coating tastes a bit like KFC so needless to say i order it everytime i go there

I am enjoying this time off but the waistline is starting to suffer a bit with all that eating and drinking.Off to Tasmania early next week for 11 days then a few more days back in Sydney before heading down to Melbourne.

Squid tubes, cut into shapes be imaginative, score one side for visual effect, marinate in milk and salt and pepper the longer the more tender, drain on paper towels, dust lightly in flour and salt and pepper, shallow fry in a wok or even better BBQ both intense heat and very quickly, have chilli and schallots chopped for garnish.

                              Happy days.

BTW how farking wet is it Fitz???? My pool filled in about an hour this morn. Pissing down.
