Yes, My Lovely was funny because it mentioned celebrities of the era and was like reading a chapter in a book. I love folk music from the 1960's for that reason, one of my favourite genres and eras.

Tom Verlaine's Ghost For you from Classic Pop Magazine
NEWS / 13 DECEMBER 1949 – 28 JANUARY 2023
OBITUARY TOM VERLAINE
Tom Verlaine, frontman of US punk pioneers Television, has died at the age of 73.
Best remembered for their debut album Marquee Moon, Television were among the first wave of American punk groups, regularly playing at New York’s legendary CBGB club.
Born Thomas Miller in Denville, New Jersey, Verlaine – his surname being a reference to the French symbolist poet Paul Verlaine – formed his first band, The Neon Boys, in 1972 with school friend Richard Meyers, by then called Richard Hell. The Neon Boys would eventually metamorphose into Television and by 1974 were playing some of New York City’s hippest joints, including CBGB and Max’s Kansas City.
After seeing a performance by the group in the mid-70s, David Bowie (who covered Verlaine’s Kingdom Come on 1980’s Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) album) called them “the most original band I’ve seen in New York.”
Television released their first album, Marquee Moon, in 1977. Though that LP and its follow-up a year later, Adventure, were critically lauded, both sold poorly in the US. The band split up shortly after its release. In the years after, Verlaine put out a number of solo albums including 1982’s Words From The Front and Flash Light (1987).
Television reformed in 1992 releasing a self-titled third album. Though they never recorded another LP, they continued to perform, last playing live in 2019. Talking about the band in 1991 to Details magazine, Verlaine said: “As peculiar as it sounds, I’ve always thought that we were a pop band. You know, I always thought Marquee Moon was a bunch of cool singles. Then I’d realise, Christ, this song is 10 minutes long, with two guitar solos.”
Verlaine died on 28 January after what Jesse Paris Smith, the daughter of Verlaine’s former partner Patti Smith, called “a brief illness”.
Though commercial success mostly eluded Verlaine, he remains a toweringly influential figure. “Tom Verlaine has passed over to the beyond that his guitar playing always hinted at,” wrote Mike Scott of The Waterboys. “He was the best rock and roll guitarist of all time, and like Hendrix could dance from the spheres of the cosmos to garage rock. That takes a special greatness.” Flea, of the Red Hot Chili Peppers wrote: “Listened to Marquee Moon 1000 times… Tom Verlaine is one of the greatest rock musicians ever… Fly on Tom.” ■

This is the music thread Jaxx. We all have carte blanche to play whatever it is our hearts desire. With the themes thread going through a vicious and at times a very ugly power struggle I thought it would be good to revive this thread so we all had somewhere to play what we want when we want. When you trust your television
what you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information
they can bend it all they want
