My morning arse after 50 beers sounds much better mate, I shit you not.

Beyonce has a great body and melon, she like most of the modern wonders have a big fat zero in the ability column. Its all wobble and no rhythm.

I hear no Rhythm and no Blues anymore. All I hear is bites from old hits. If you listened to some of the better stuff from the 50s, 60s, 70s youd hear what I hear mate, all the little loops from the old days.

Ever seen an ugly modern singer, male or female, Devon??? (Wino excluded, somehow that dirty thing slipped thru the ranks, cant sing for shit though either.)

Therein lies the problem with the plastic pop machine. It churns out image, not quality.

The Seppos used to be the masters of the production line but the Poms have been giving them a run for their money for a while now.

Chris Brown and Rihanna are crap, I hate them, some songs are catchy, but I think Rihanna looks and sounds like a sheep.

Ne-Yo however is a real talent, his voice might not be insane like Wanya Morris (lead singer of Boyz II Men, who still make great R&B) or Stokely Williams (lead singer of Mint Condition, ditto on them), but his song writing and production is amazing.

Oh and Mariah will forever and always be the best vocalist IMO.

Nothing wrong with liking ABBA WickedAngel, pure pop at it's very best, the two girls voices were just stunning and the differences in their voices just added to the uniqueness of their music at the time.Everyone else is recording their songs now and even Madonna had her first no1 hit for ages when she sampled their music.
The rest of your list is pretty good also.

people are entitle to their own opinion..my ranting on beyonce however is deeper than opinion its fact...ask any trained vocal coach and they will tell you beyonces range, tone and "wobbling" are exquisite. and have you seen that girl dance? she is in no short supply of rhythm... though you are 100% correct..there would be girls out there with beyonce's talent but she is prettier and therefore allowed to succeed.

and yes RP mariah has one of the greatest technical voices ever

Thanks Horrie. Did you or anyone see the Abba movie.....such a feel good movie & was singing along (abeit quietly) when I went to see it. Eye candy wasn't bad either with Pierce Brosnan & Colin Firth in it.

fact is determined by various vocal concepts that a trained musical ear can pick up..

such as the fact that in a live arena beyonce never sings a note out of tune, the tones and colours in her voice are variable and exquisite, she has a massive range, an incredible ability to improvise..she has it all

But Fitz is right, its not a fact, its opinion.

Yes saw it twice at the cinema, there was so much happening in it i had to go and see it again. It had a few cringe worthy moments but over all it was very good and you couldn't help but feel good after seeing it.Meryl Streep was very good,Pierce Brosnan might have looked good but his singing was one of the low pointsi wish they would have dubbed his voice, everyone else singing ranged from good to adequate.
Have you seen the stage show?i have seen it three times and it interesting to see how it evolved over time,i first saw it London and it was great but still quite serious,by the time i saw it in Melbourne,it had been become less serious and more camp and by the time it hit Sydney it was almost completely high camp.I think the London production was the best i had seen but i have to admit i was up dancing and singing in the Sydney production.

Yes there were some cringe moments in Mamma Mia. I really liked Julie Walters character - a hoot!
No haven't seen the stage show but friends have and they've given glowing reports. One day will see it somewhere.

and who trains the musical ear? its all based on opinion. someone somewhere has decided what sounds good and tells others that this is what sounds right, so this is fact? i dont think so. music is like any other form of art.

a trained musical ear can be developed in a number of ways...being a fully classically and contemporary trained piano player and teacher and occassional vocalist is one way..

                                music can be discussed objectively...

either somebody has a good range or a poor range, good pitch awareness or poor pitch awareness, the ability to sing live or not, the ability to improvise (the "wobbling" somebody mentioned earlier is all skilled improv) etc
