  • Greetings from ATHENS

Firstly, wishing that all the easts diehards had a merry xmas and may we all have a wonderful and prosperous 2011, that includes the 2011 title.

At the moment I am over in Greece visiting the rellies, and seeing how crap things really are over here. Things are a shit-load worse than what is portrayed in the press. But for me life is good, and the exchange rate is awesome for the aussie dollar. And the weather is very mild considering it is the middle of winter here.

The only sport on tv here is football (soccer) and basketball. I am busting for a game of league. And to watch the mighty roosters again. Get back in about three weeks, so should get in a couple of trial games before the season to wet my appetite for another successful year for easts.

Although I have never met him, good to hear that Jman is doing better. The chookpen "family" is as one, linked by our love for easts, and when there is some sort of illness or tragedy, even though it is from behind a keyboard, genuine support is shown in times of need. This is what makes this site different to the Wall.

Anyway, enough rambling on by me.

    Yia soo from ellatha.

              Hi all,

Yep, still here in the land of dodgy government deals and an Lol economy.

Brain. Spending most of my time in Patras, so next time I am up in Athens I will check out that yerros joint for the 'aussie special'. I have O.D. on pittas and souv's over here. They know how to cook a dead animal !!!!

Although the economy is farked, they still know how to have a good time. The bouzoukia are really busy only on fri/sat nights, but the bars/clubs/cafes still do ok.

They all constantly winge about the crap state the country is in, but it has always been in some sort of disarray as long as I can remember. I have called it 'controlled caos' since I first came here in the 80's. It worked ok, until they got a shitload of $$$$ from Europe, but forgot a small detail, they had to pay it back !

Another couple of weeks of doing fark-all but eating, drinking and mating, then back to the reality of work when I get back home. And the female species is in abundance. And the like the Greeklish accent. Nice.

Another point of note over here, they don't have nip pourers or machines, just free-pour straight from the bottle. Drinking scotch like it is water. Nice. And the barchick always gives you free shots. Nice.

              On to easts matters:

The potential resigning of our future Aust prop Mr Kennedy is awesome.

The injuries to Watts & Carney, better now than later in the season.

The Braith saga continues. Looks like either a paycut or unfortunately he is history.

Anyway, home for a shit/shower/shave and ready to hit the town again.

Still in Patras. Where are your rello's from?

From what I hear, if is the same one, that Antzoulatos guy is dodgy, has his fingers in many pies. I'd say it is the same guy that has "POLITIA" and the "IDEA STORES". A mate of mine works at IDEA STORES, and at the moment, they are lucky if they get a couple of customers per day in there. All the stuff in there is bad Chinese crap. A bad version of Bunnings meets Big W!

The place in Platia Omonia (patra), is it Vasili's? Their stuff is good. Live around the corner so I am a regular. Also at Omonia, at "KOUZINA TIS MAMAS", they get me 'paithakia' once a week. And the chick has a great arse! A new "GONIA" has also opened, and is doing a roaring trade. But 99% of all the meats are pork over here. Hanging out for a good aussie t-bone steak.

Fark me drunk, have not heard the word 'Bar Hollywood' in ages. Those were the days. Just off 'Gounari' past the court house in the arcade. Ahh those were the days.

My cousin is going out with one of the hot singers at the bouzoukia, (fark they are all dizzy bitches but great looking!!!), the lowdown of who is farking who, and who takes what, and who is gay/lesbian but is 'happily married' . Amazing stuff!

Anyway, outterhere soon. Won't get to do all the Carnivali stuff. Very low key this year. No one has any money! Bouzoukia in Athens this weekend, then home. Back for the Tigers game.

Hanging out for a game of "real" footy. Go easts!

A cousin used to own The Hollywood Bar -Mafia ****ed him
Thats the Antzoulatos **** ****ed me for $600,000 Thanks to Flipps.
If any one in Greece wants to know who shifted the money out of Greece just ask.
I was the original buyer for Idea and the whole group(The standard has dropped in stock since I left) - he would be feeling the pinch in their economy big time plus his warehouse burnt down a few years ago .Prick was under insured by 50 mill.

You always get ya moneys worth with the booze.
I know where your staying another cuz should be nearby.
Are you ripping the Carnivale apart?

                            Brain

Got back to Oz a couple of days ago.

The Carnivale is very low key this year. They only started puting up the Carnivale street-lights last weekend. And I only saw 5 groups around town (they hire out empty shops, which there are plenty at the moment).

Regarding overseas $$$, I was pissing myself laughing, hearing the govt over there trying to get access to overseas bank accounts to recoup "lost" taxes. They have no hope. If they had an idea, the gaols would be filled with tax cheats! In Greece, if you have 'meson', you can get anything done. And money talks!

Anyway, got off the plane, and straight into a farkin dentists chair. Don't trust the dentists over there.

                            Good to be home.
Back to 'normal' water pressure in the shower, and can flush dunny paper in the loo.

But miss being able to smoke anywhere and drive at double the speed limit!

                            Go easts on sat night

                            Crikey...... back in oz
