    Chook.
Carbon Dioxide is not pollution Chook. if this was a pollution tax that would pay to clean up rivers and air we breathe then yes Im in.

This is a money grab that will make no difference to Global temperatures, but will send jobs overseas instead, where its cheaper to produce, and pass any costs down to the poor little consumer. The average bloke will get hammered.

Please explain how a tax will control the climate. It wont, yo know it, i know it, scientists know it. This is the Surplus Tax you have when you cant tax the miners.

    ****ing Labor.

During the election campaign, Julia Gillard said "There will be no carbon tax under the government I lead"

I think its fair to now assume that she does not lead the government.

      Hello PM Brown

If carbon dioxide is not a pollutant melon then go suck a tail pipe and see how long you live. Or wait I know a better way, tape a plastic bag tightly over your head and breath. What a stupid statement.

Business want a price on carbon melon, they have been saying as much for over 12 months. Why would they want that if it's going to send jobs overseas and cause the catastrophy you claim? They can see the benefits and the potential for a carbon price. You liberal sycophants need to get a clue and stop repeating liberal party bullshit spin as facts, cause it's not fact it's bullshit!

Stupid farking libs can't see past next week let alone years into the future. A carbon price will affect the climate melon, it will take years to see but it will have an affect as more and more investment in green technologies takes place as they are carbon neutral or even generate carbon credits.

I thought you were suppose to be some business man? If you can't see the benefits in a carbon price, maybe you aren't the "business man" you claim to be.

A price on carbon will open up entire new industries and investment opportunities, particularly for ordinary Australians. They can simply set their own homes up as carbon sinks (rather than money sinks) and on sell carbon credits.

We both know that people/business will not do anything different if they are not force too. If this tax means people and business pollute less it's a winner already.

        Chook.

Just like Howard the Coward telling all Australia - "No GST ever!" Yet here we are paying GST on ****ing everything and we still have many of the taxes the GST was suppose to replace!

Governments lie. They also change their minds, but I guess that only happens when it's the ****ing liberals doing it eh?

By that reasoning, water is a pollutant as well.
Not to mention lets destroy all plants they produce carbon dioxide.

There is no sensible reason for a carbon tax in Australia. This is not a clever way to tackle the REAL (read that REAL) environmental protection issues. This is an option deemed easy yet false. It does nothing to reduce toxic emissions, it will just drive up the prices of goods. Companies will either cop the tax and pass the cost onto the consumer.

The real impact of Australian emmissions in the overal scheme of things is so negligible its ridiculous.

Do not worry about who will destroy this country and send us broke, because Bob F&*kwit Brown is his name.

I don't know what reasoning you are using but I can drink water. In fact most of me is made up of water. And plants actually take in carbon dioxide as part of their food processing and release oxygen as a by product. Please get a clue before you enter into a debate.

Yes I was def wrong about the plants don't know what I was thinking.

But just because we can't breathe in C02 doesn't automatically make it in itself a pollutant.

So you're ok for plants to survive but not animals (which includes humans)? Sorry KB, but if CO2 is toxic to breath than it's a pollutant. And I'm not alone in that belief.

                  http://www.epa.vic.gov.au/air/aq4kids/pollution.asp
Definition of air pollution: Air pollution occurs when the air contains gases, dust, fumes or odour in harmful amounts. That is, amounts which could be harmful to the health or comfort of humans and animals or which could cause damage to plants and materials.

                  http://www.businessdictionary.com/de...pollution.html
Air pollution - DefinitionGaseous, liquid, or solid substances which (when present in sufficient concentration, for a sufficient time, and under certain conditions) tend to interfere with human comfort,

                  http://www.ozoneservices.com/glossar...rpollution.htm
Air Pollution - The contamination of the atmosphere by any toxic or radioactive gases and particulate matter as a result of human activity.

Big difference Chook. Howard said it in the lead up to the 96 election. It was not introduced until after the 98 election when he ran on that platform. The people voted him in on that basis

Julia (or the Greens) have not been in office for 8 months

Howard took the GST to an election, and won.

It shows how stupid we are. No other countries people have actaully voted a GST in.

I bet though you voted it in

Although in that election I think Labor polled more actual votes than the Libs and the Howard Govt went from having well over a 20 seat majority to a 12 seat advanatge which a lot of those were very close

The slimy man knew he had the overwhelming majority to do what he did

Fair call. But I stand by my initial point that governments lie, omit or change their minds regarding policy and legislation.

After the 1998 election the libs did not have the balance of power in the senate. It was a nuffy mandate much like Labors current nuffy mandate with the minor parties calling all the shots. In the case of the GST it was passed though by the Democractic party Dictator Meg Lees who held a gun to the other democratic party senators.

When the democrat party voters realised they actually voted for a dictatorship instead of a democratic party, it was the end of the democrats.

It was only a nuffy mandate due to the way the people voted
