I have trouble fathoming how much alcohol it would take to get Carney drunk... any guesses?

I'm pretty well exactly the same height/weight as Carney (although my weight is concentrated around the waist.) It takes me maybe 10 beers (middies) within 2 hours to be buzzing - I usually drink whiskey because you're pissin' all night if you drink 10-20 beers.

Carney... I reckon he'd need at least double that to get drunk/buzzing?

I see all those on here would give up the grog for a good footy career and the $$$. It took me until I was 30 before I could go out on the piss and not have to drink a dozen cans.

Binge drinking is a massive problem, and I can only imagine it would be even harder with wods of cash in my back pocket, and 20 mates to hang around every day.

i gave up grog for a better life. im 26 and like carney got into trouble when i drank. so i stopped drinking. now i drink maybe once a year if that and have done so for 4 years. also i think its a waste of money as it is way over priced in this country.

Of I had the talent his did in my chosen sport and I was going to be on big dollars there is no way I would drink but it's easy for me to say I don't know what's going on in his head

Yes I would and yes I did about sixteen years ago. I'd been on the road with rock bands for ten or fifteen years and had drunk more than my share. Smoked ciggies and billies daily too. It's not about how much you drink, but why you drank and how you feel when you did.

I've learnt a couple of things... Don't have the first drink. I might be able to drink normally... I might not. But conventional wisdom suggests that any substance abuser cannot moderate anything for too long.

There is no one solution to this. Who knows what drives Todd? There is some form of compulsion and poor impulse control. The two feed on each other and can often spiral downward.

Todd needs to get the right sort of help. but unfortunately he may make mistakes until he gets the help he needs... but at this stage there is nothing going wrong in his life that having a drink won't make worse.
