But if I word it differently,
Am I not entitled to have my kids recieve the same amount of funding from the government as every other kid , just because I suplement their education costs ?
There is also, the government isn't really funding the extras that a private school offers, thats funded by fee payments and fund raising. The Internet is a place for posting silly things

Its an attitude of entitlement when it should be an attitude of community betterment.

I don't look at it at all as doing the system a favour. Its merely a point showing that it costs the governement less for a child that goes to a private school.
I think that there is a strong perception that all people that send their kids to private schools are wealthy, while there is a lot of money at some of these schools, there is a high percentage of people that are not wealthy.
I also believe that at most private schools the students not only get a better education, but get a better structure including behavioural expectations. Structure, behaviour and attitude are very strong reasons for why my kids attend private schools.
These 3 things do start at home, but are very important in an educational environment as well.
I think these foundations very much benefit society and unfortunately they are not features of the public high schools in my area. This is not something extra funding is going to correct, its a much wider social issue.
My job as a parent is to prepare my kids in the best possible way for life. These better I prepare my kids, the likelyhood that their contribution to society will be better. Thats a specific and probably small way of community benefit but one none the less.
I guess most of my points are relating to why my kids are attending private schools and not why they should recieve govt funding.
I do believe that the public school system has become a place where its harder and harder to get a good education for normal kids. I don't believe funding is the major issue (but do agree they should get more), its a attitude problem, the school can't discipline the students, many parents believe their kids can do no wrong and generally people are losing respect for each other.
I think the more kids that get the opportunity to go learn in a structured environment the better it is for society. Is taking money away from private schools and giving it to public schools going to change that. I think not, except to put more kids in the public schools system.
Can the system change to improve public school education, I would love to think so, but it isn't going to happen in a hurry, how to you get kids to respect each other and their teachers respect when they are used to saying and doing as they please, without fear of being responsible for their actions,The Internet is a place for posting silly things

Simply because given the reputation you would like to have and/or your pre occupation with sex, there is no guarrantee you don't have unknown spogs running amok somewhere, even via warm toilet seat distribution.

If all children when through the public system it would cost the government a hell of a lot more.
But the recent myschool financial data highlights that private schools dont spend on average that much more per student, where they spend the money is in capital works like swimming pools and facilities to attract more students.
Of course there are the exceptions but overall they just dont need the money and how people can drop their kids off at the sandstone gates and then drive past another run down public shool with crumbling facilities and not feel guilt is staggering.Last edited by JohnL; 03-11-2011, 06:57 AM.
