  • Violence works.

    As a deterent to violence.

I was watching the video of that chubby kid body slam that little prick into the concrete and my immediate thought was "I bet that little bastard thinks twice about bullying again". And that would be only due to the fact the intended victim used violence to protect himself.

Governments have been using violence or the threat of violence as a deterent to other governments for centuries. Violence is rooted into the human instinct as a means to defend ourselves. In fact the very freedoms we enjoy today were the direct result of decades of violent confrontations between people.

We are a violent species, it is part of us. Violence is a proven method and concept when it is required and I truly believe it is required to stem this epidemic of bullying we see in our schools. The hand holding, comforting, turn the other cheek bullshit is breeding a society of spineless, scared kids with no confidence that they can stand on their own two feet.

Imagine the confidence that chubby kid has today? He'd be a walking hero to his classmates. Yet he'll be drilled and browbeaten into believing what he did was wrong. And that is how our kids get confused with these bullshit double standard messages they get. Oh you can play violent video games and watch violent movies and TV shows, but don't use it, not even when you are being punched in the face!

If more bullies got smashed like that waste of DNA in the video they'd be a lot less bullies imo.

    Chook.

As a former bullying victim (the last person who did it is missing half an ear...I shit it out later) I can say that while I don't condone the fat kid (not from Hey Dad but probably fingerbanged by Robert Hughes) bodyslamming the little turd, I understand.

Can we deduce that you biting the ear off the bully (violence) was a direct cause of them being the "last person" to bully you? ie - word got around that you stand up for yourself using violence?

        Chook.

Wow, you weren't kidding when you said he got body-slammed into the concrete.

Some kids just love to antagonize. And only a dose of their own medicine makes them understand what they're doing is wrong. I did it as a kid, to my sister and whenever she snapped, I'd go running to my Mum who would give me no sympathy. And rightly so.

The bullied kid broke the other kids ankle. We've all seen what bullying can lead to and sometimes, the damage is irreparable. I reckon he's learned his lesson.

he'll just start picking on kids smaller than him from now on.....bullies bully people because they get bullied themself....they get belted up by their father, uncle, brother, older kids, and it makes them feel better to pick on somebody else, thus the cycle begins.most children who get picked on are bullies themselves to other children.i dont think anybody is completely innocent when it comes to picking on people....everyone has done it but most people grow up...that being said, there is more bullying at my work then there was at my school by far

We live in a culture of violence so these things don't surprise me anymore.

Too much violence on our tv's and dvds, too much violence in video games, violent lyrics in rap music etc etc. Whilst this might not effect adults who have a clear distinction between fantasy and reality, some kids are a different matter.

Being unable to discipline the spoilted trouble making kid is also a major contributor. Bring back the kane and the right for parents to discipline their own.

That is the truth. For me its more that our society encourages the individual not to have to take responsibility for threir actions.

The only other trhing I would add is that its about time some parents woke up to themselvs and realised that their kids are not angels.
