  • KFC Double Down Burger

I am surprised at the level of ignorance and animosity over this burger. From a training perspective, a healthy diet comprises the same or more calories from protein than fat which makes KFC's high protein and low fat Fillets one of the better fast food meals around.

Slap a bit of cheese and bacon between two of these healthy fillets and the media are out for blood. Yet it is still healthier than many of the McDonald's burgers including some which have the Heart Foundation "Tick of Approval".

I understand what youre saying re: comparison to other fast food outlet.

However that doesn't change the fact that the burger is pure garbage.

35g of fat, mostly saturated, in one sitting doesn't comply with any proper diet.

The high protein/moderate fat diet is supposed to provide you with the good fats. It doesn't fit in saturated fat which is basically empty calories.

Agreed the Zinger one is garbage. The original fillet one is 47g protein, 22g fat, 17 grams carbs. They are also a larger meal equivalent to two smaller mcdonald's burgers. ie. you won't be able to eat two of them.

You can eat two of McDonald's Heart Foundation tick approved burgers like the Fillet of Fish which would bring you to 26g fat, 27gram protein, 62 grams carb. That is more fat, 300% more sugar, and half the protein. A single Big Mac has more fat and twice the sugar despite being a smaller meal.

The latest Angus Burgers have 50% more fat, 100% more saturated fat, and 200% more sugar. Why didn't the media jump on McDonald's back? It is the false and ignorant perception that something between two pieces of bread is much healthier than something between two pieces of meat.

It's a double chicken burger without the bread. That's it. Most Maccas burgers are worse. The negative hype this thing is getting is ridiculous.

My main issue with it is its about $2-3 too expensive. I can get a far better double chicken burger from Ole or Ogalo for the same price, and they include bread and everything!

I have the gag reflex of Annette Schwarz but that thing made me throw up.

It's a dog whistle dice. Our media generates them daily to get the lemmings up in arms on an issue they have no farking idea about. Makes for a good online poll and advertising opportunity.

Macca's, KFC, Hungry Jacks...same shit different packaging.

              Chook.

Trust me, that Annette is not a girl you'd take home to meet a parent.

you know what is pathetic about this. A person should be able to eat something every now and then that isn't good for them.
But they need to be responsible for themselves, but we have been driven to a society that encourages the blame to be everyone else's but our own.

Try and be serious and you will look stupid

Looks OK to me although I don't eat a lot of junk food. I also don't need the media to tell me what is good and bad for me. I know a lot of overweight people do but at least they ALWAYS make the right choice for a beverage - Diet Coke. I would love to know the percentage of overweight people that drink Diet Coke.

Those that are overweight and complain that "it is so hard to tell these days what is healthy and what is not" are fools.
