  • Scalextric Vs AFX

So my 5 (going on 6 yr old) boy has discovered slot car racing after seeing his cousins Spiderman Carerra racing set, and I was gonig to buy him one for school holidays..

Now the Carerra I'm not thrilled with due to the type of contacts they seem to use under the cars. I was always an AFX car set kid (had the "Fall Guy" set which rocked big time), and Scalextric always seemed to big & expensive.

Discuss - AFX/Carerra/Scalextrix.. what's the go these days?

My 11 year old son has been collecting slot cars for about 5 years. he has about 12. I think they are Scays. He has a bit of a track. a couple of overpasses, a long straigt and a figure 8. He has some cool cars. A ford V8 supercar, a Lambo, a couple of porches, a Ferrari, a mustang.

These days i think he just like collecting the cars...he hardly races although there's a big track near us I should take him to more often.
