Just an "infomercial" for the NBN, Stephen Conroy is a tool

      steak knives included?

what they failed to say, that if/when the system crashes, then your regular phone line will NOT work.

Not good for the elderly, disabled or those living alone without a mobile!

And guaranteed to be over budget

ya for quicker porn downloads lol

A large percentage who live in blackout areas with no signal. Mainly rural areas. They rely on copper. Land line. Dial tone. And thats all they need to do business and to live.

I know quite a few people without mobiles, but isn't that a fault point very similar to the one currently with copper phone lines, if the line is down then the phone doesn't work.

I have 2 problems with the NBN.
1 - its not being managed properly and given the track record of the BER and pick batts I do not see it being managed properly and far too much money will be wasted.

2 - all these people saying we NEED it, is rubbish. We would like super fast speeds to our homes, but we don't NEED it, a vast difference.

The details are not being communicated well at all and both sides of the arguement are clouded with whats really happening and whats just biased crap.

Personally I would like to see "non fibre optic" solutions ramped up for the rural locations, especially remotes ones. This would be the practical and cost effective solution that would see REAL NEEDED benefits. Tie it in with a rollout of improved mobile coverage for those areas and I think you have a winner. I am not sure this is part of the overall NBN strategy or if it is part of the strategy. I have seen heard pro NBNers scream that it is and how dare we question it and I have heard the anto NBNers scream it must be done else its a huge waste of money.

                But I haven't seen fact.

If they are going to do it, for god sake do it properly and do it efficiently

I don't believe the paranoid Glenn Beckian style stuff about how the world government will use the NBN to turn off people's smart meters because they're using too much power but I do believe the NBN is a monstrous waste of money.

Surely is, especially when it comes to the way they can use it:

Only because you are Howard's greatest blind follower trying to revive life as it was in the 1950's.
