  • Cracking version. I'm sure there a lot of younger people who don't realise this is a cover as Kim Wilde really left her stamp on this song. Reminds me of the old days..girls all dancing around their handbags at Parra Leagues or Panthers to this (yes I was one of them. I can't remember what was bigger..my hair or my earrings..)

    Set me free
    Why don't you babe?
    Keep me hangin' on
    Set my free
    Why don't you babe?
    Get of my life
    Why don't you babe?
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
    Set me free
    Why don't you babe?
    Get out my life
    Why don't you babe? (ooh-woo-ooh)
'Cause you don't really need me
But, you've just keep me hangin' on
Why do you keep a-comin' around playin' with my heart?
Why don't you get out of my life
And let me make a brand-new start?
    Let me get over you
The way you've gotten over me, yeah-yeah-yeah
    Set me free
    Why don't you babe?
    Get off my life
    Why don't you babe? (ooh-woo-ooh)
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
No, you don't really need me
You just keep me hangin' on
You say although we broke up
"You still just wanna be friends"
But how can we still be friends
When seein' you only breaks my heart again?
    Ooh-woah-woah-woah
    Ooh-woah-woah-woah-woah
(And there ain't nothing I can do about it)
    Ooh-woah-woah-woah
    Ooh-woah-woah-woah-woah
    Hey, yeah
Get out, get out of my life
And let me sleep at night
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me (hangin' on) hangin' on
You say you still care for me
But your heart, and soul needs to be free
And now that you've got your freedom
You wanna still hold on to me
You don't want me for yourself
So let me find somebody else
Why don't you be a man about it, set me free (ooh-woo-ooh)
No, you don't care a thing about me
You're just usin' me, hey, abusin' me
Get out, get out of my life
And let me sleep at night (ooh-woo-ooh)
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
    Hangin' on

          • The Clash's cover of the Sonny Curtis's I Fought the Law song - I think the Bobby Fuller Four first recorded it

              • This one covers everything. Song lyrics, cover version, from the heart, great Aussie music, a song from my era and also belongs in the RUOK thread due to the subject matter. I meant to post this a while back. I really can't think of a sadder song. Paul Kelly is a national treasure for writing this and Renee Geyer also for doing such a gentle interpretation. Sadness in it's purest form

Like a child acting so carelessly
You destroyed something you just didn't see
                No, I'm not angry
Well how could I be angry with a child?
                You broke a beautiful thing
                And it won't ever mend
                Thoughtless child
Wrapped up in the shape of a man
I tried so hard to get you to understand
                I'm so sorry
Why am I always the one saying I'm sorry
Like a mother does for a child?
                You broke a beautiful thing
                And it won't ever mend
I'll never have the pieces again
I hate the way I keep losing things
And I hate the way when I lose something
I never seem to find it again
                No, I'm not angry
How could I stay angry, with a little child?
                You broke a beautiful thing
                And it won't ever mend
                You broke a beautiful thing
                And it won't ever mend
                You broke a beautiful thing
                Yes it did
                And it won't ever mend
I'll never have the pieces again

                • This was one of Mum's favourites. I was too young at the time to realise that it's a cover of a Waylon Jennings song

                  • This whole album is Bryan Ferry doing cover versions. I've had it since the 1990's and I never tire of it. Another I regret not seeing. I remember he came to Sydney in late 2001 but I was managing a retail shop out at Parramatta and had no energy to go into town to see him.

The album is called Taxi and one of the tracks came up yesterday when I managed to get out for a Heartbreak Hill walk in the morning whilst the sun was out.
