You know that song sends me into raptures...oh that's a good song too...

Here she is with INXS covering Jackson, also a country song:

Great cover, really plays homage to Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood's version

You probably know Jenny's talented sister too Horrie....Shanley Del. This is her with James Gillard doing a duet, shortly after they were married. Lovely harmonies.

            • And because we are inclusive, male interpretations of the songs of Neil & Tim Finn..He Will Have His Way. Jimmy Barnes screaming Message To My Girl is in there somewhere...oh dear,,I love Jimmy and follow him on Instagram but I wouldn't like to be the girl on the receiving end of the message...Screaming at girls is not how you win them over Jimmy...quiet, soft and romantic Jimmy! No browbeating and caveman tactics:

Do you have their Finn Brothers CD Everyone is Here? Beautiful songs..I'll post them in the other thread as they are not covers. This one is not technically a cover but Tim Finn wrote it and Jenny Morris sung it. This is one of my all time favourites:

                You I Know

Favourite part of the lyrics "When I was drifting down, you pulled me up again" and I just love how she sings I'll love you til the end..

I have just about everything Neil ever released. Like I said I've had a crush on him since I was a 13 years old teenager in Year 8! I have every Split Enz, Crowded House, solo and Finn Brothers album. I also have his Pyjama Club album which he did with his wife Sharon. I've been to see Split Enz, Crowded House x 3, Finn bros, and Neil solo concerts over the years. I used to be a member of Frenz of the Enz fanclub when I was a teenager!!

Also, sorry to correct you, but it was my man Neil who wrote You I Know for Jenny Morris. Not Tim. I do like Tim too of course being the founding member of the Enz. He was also Neil's hero.

Message to My Girl is one of Neil's top 3 songs ever along with I Got You and Don't Dream It's Over. I won't even listen to Barnsey 'singing' it as I can imagine in my head what it would sound like. There is no way it would suit his 'singing' style.

I happened to listen to it this morning It reminded me of being back at school when a kid would run their nails down the blackboard

Most of the other covers I listened to were good but I do think Private Universe is a song that should not be touched

On another note it really is a beautiful day here on the beach in the sun. I love the winter sun

PS I thought you would like Message To My Girl it is shy I posted it last night That and I like it as well

I didn't realise you posted it. I'll have to go double check that thread. Private Universe is another great Neil song.

I'm glad you're getting some nice winter sun there today. We're slightly warmer here today and it will allegedly reach 13 degrees.

No don't be sorry for the correction MR! You are right and thank you...it was Neil after all. I always thought it was Tim..the lyrics are just so poignant and I always associate Tim with the gentle songs and Neil with the darker numbers. They are just lovely and so good to see their family all taking part now too in the music business. I do remember Frenz of the Enz...happy days MR!

When my god daughter was very little, she used to sing this in the bathtub:

She'd be belting out "I Don't Know Why Sometimes I Get Frightened!"

Mum would come rushing in saying what's wrong with her? Who is frightening her in the bathroom..good grief...

Love it. This is the song which started my Neil then Enz, then Crowdies obsession. We saw Crowdies a few months ago and he managed to slip I Got You into the set and the crowd went bersserk, including myself.

My sister chose well when she picked me to be that little girl's Godmother. She's now in her 40's but I still remind her about her bathroom singing. She introduced me to Coldplay before they became famous, Starsailor, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The White Stripes, Travis and Moloko.

Kate Bush was another she would sing in the tub..

                            • This little gem popped out of nowhere on my shuffle. Your Lovin' is On My Mind - Paul Dempsey from the most amazing tribute album to Paul Kelly. I listen to it quite often
