.I looked up Mike and he was going to be an NFL player at one stage. He was born in 1947, the same year as David Bowie.

Drumroll please...he wrote I Can't Make You Love Me...covered by the likes of George Michael & Bonnie Raitt as previously posted by me (as I have those in my collection) but Prince and Carrie Underwood also covered it.

Here is Mike singing his own version at the Bluebird Cafe for a charity gig for a hospice with Michael Mcdonald whom I've also posted in another thread (he had a hit here with I Keep Forgetting We Aren't In Love Anymore)

That's a great find RWB. 4 big artists covering the one song is a helluva wrap. I like how sharing music like this, can lead to uncovering more hitherto unknown connections and clips. Reidy would be enjoying some decent royalties. I missed my vocation, should have went to Nashville and wrote some songs.

I like both versions. I heard Birdys version in the gym and instantly stopped what I was doing and just listened That was when I was going through family court over my Daughter The way she sung this resonated with the sadness I felt over being we where we were. It is a cover of the highest order.

I remember how thrilled you were to find out that Bette Midler had covered In This Life after you had sent me Collin Raye's version (which I have on in the background now). You can easily write a song Jack as you have family members like mine who perform professionally and you know how to string a sentence together and play an instrument. You don't need to go to Nashville to do that..I'll bet you can write a half decent song by Christmas...I remember when Bruce Springsteen covered Just Like Fire Would (maybe at the concert you went to as he covered INXS' Don't Change at the one I went to) and Chris Bailey was given a royalty cheque for half a million dollars from Bruce as he'd put it on an album..and that was years ago..the royalties still keep coming..RIP Chris..
