  • Well I haven't been to anywhere near as many concerts as RWB or HH. It's probably because I grew up in country NSW and then moved to Canberra when I was 17, so not close enough to where all the performers go to perform. But off the top of my head I have been to the following:

    Split Enz farewell tour
    Crowded House - 3 times
    Finn Brothers
Neil Finn solo....see a trend here?
    Paul McCartney twice
    Elton twice
    U2
    Billy Joel
    ACDC
    Powderfinger
    Icehouse
    Eurythmics
    Melissa Etheridge Twice
    Del Amitri
    1927
John Denver - several times - I went with my Mum who was a huge fan.
There were a few other smaller bands at the ANU bar but I can't remember them lol!
My biggest regret was not getting to see David Bowie live.

Nothing wrong with a Kylie Minogue concert, been to a few, loved her Impossible Princess one at the Capital Theatre.

That's still a pretty impressive list MR

Not sure why i didn't see The Eurythmics or Fleetwood Mac.

RWB mentioned some acts she hadn't seen and mentioned ABBA, my father for some reason wouldn't let me go their concerts in Sydney even though i could have got tickets, i don't think at my age then i would have fully appreciated the super group they turned into and i definitely appreciate their music more now than i did back then, that said though it would have still been an awesome concert to go to.

So on my bucket list that i haven't seen it would be Jeff Lynne ( ELO ) , Annie Lennox and even though i have seen her before i would love to see Diana Ross one more time.

          That's cool HH.
It's just to me what Kylie Minogue did to music is akin to what big brother or shows of that ilk did to television.
I should say that I'd rather listen to her than rap music.

            Yep, you would've loved it.
Mind you, although I saw Bowie live, I've seen none of the artists you saw on that list.
            Some real good ones there.

All good Eddie, i can't really listen to Kylies from the Stock Aitken Waterman era but i like how she evolved from that and kept re inventing herself.

I remembered you liked that one Andy. It wasn't released when I saw her in concert back in 1990. I'm also happy for you to call me Bernie instead of someone..everyone knows who I am anyway and I have nothing to hide. .

This is the one I told you about also as my favourite of hers:

That’s funny about your Dad. I remember loving ABBA at their prime in the mid 70s. I would have been only 8-10 years old but I was obsessed with their music. I still love to listen to them every now and then to this day. ELO are great as well. Out Of The Blue, Eldorado, A New World Record are all great albums. It’s pretty obvious Jeff Lynne is a mad Beatles fan. The Eurythmics concert was fantastic. Annie Lennox has an amazing voice. I do prefer their earlier albums when they were a bit more experimental and quirky.

I remember when a friend from work went to Sydney to see Bowie in the 90’s. I was so jealous. She used to tease me about it all the time, in a friendly way of course!

Great song. I loved her first 2 records especially.

Being a mad Beatles fan, it was the closest thing I was going to get to seeing them! I loved it when he played the Beatles songs. The ACDC concert was outdoors so not too loud really. In any case rock should be loud. It was here in Canberra so the city was pretty excited to get a major act.

Annie’s Song is mine and my Mum’s favourite. Played at both my wedding and her funeral.

Well that was my dad being the pr*ck that he is and nothing has changed since. Yes i was about 12-14 when ABBA mania hit and loved the music then but now listening to their music how it went from boppy pop songs to a disco tinge and then all the sad songs full of angst, there is just so much more to it than when i was younger and i really appreciate more now.

Yes Jeff Lynne is often considered as the fifth Beatle, so much of his music is so Beatles influenced and he did work closely with the members of the group later on. New World Record is my all time favourite album but you mentioned Eldorado and Out Of The Blue which are fantastic, i also love On The Third Day, Face The Music, Discovery , Time and have a very soft spot for Balance Of Power which is such an under rated album, the only album which i don't like much is Secret Messages. Jeff Lynne's last two albums under Jeff Lynne's ELO are very good, he is still in fine form, i just hope i get a chance to see him live.

Annie Lennox is one amazing woman, another person i would love to see live, whether it is her solo or with Dave Stewart.
