Today in the lead up and to celebrate Christmas we start a new theme That being the 12 Days of Christmas Please post your Christmas Sings here
I will start with one of my favourites. I remember hearing this living in UK Leeds/ London for over a year at the time and I was working on a job in the east end at Canary Wharf alongside The Thames I was out on the balcony having a cup of tea and ciggie with my boss and at that time I’d only previously missed Australia once before. Ironically that being Christmas Day the year before. Anyway we are talking away and this song comes on I knew it and liked it but I went all quiet listening to it and as I was looking over the Thames and London to the West. The words 2000 miles is very far got to me and made me realise how far I was away from my real home and family. My boss asked me are you ok as I’d gone real quiet I said yeah that song that just finished made me think of and miss home for the 1st time in quite a while It’s funny how a song can evoke a memory or bring you back to another place in time like this one always does for me
