    Time To Pretend - MGMT

There were 3 brilliant singles on that album Oracular Spectacular. All so good I went out and bought it, the rest was ok but couldn’t live up to the quality and of the singles.

    • Keeping with the Noughties period, a beautiful melancholy song with brilliant lyrics and wonderful music arrangements.

          • There was a time in the 80’s and early 90’s when U2 were really good and I couldn’t wait for their latest release. Sadly those days are long gone. This is probably my favourite song of theirs but it’s hard to choose.

            • When it came to U2 I always liked this song. Funny thing was this came in about a month ago and my Daughter who’d never heard it loved it

              • Plugged my IPOD in at home to charge it up after playing all day at work and plenty of songs which had not played for ages popped up, these three stuck in my mind.

The first was one song i still have on vinyl from growing up in Paddington , only one left apart from the very first in the collection from The Beatles- Can't Buy Me Love.

HERMAN S HERMITS- My Sentimental Friend

                    • I will add two more

This one came up and the better half said such a rip off of ABBA but i still love the song and i said yes and agreed on both points.

                      • And i think it was just before before BOM's Angelo or just after it this came up and i said songs like this are timeless but unless you listen to AM radio ( or my IPOD ) you just don't hear songs like this anymore.

                        • One of the casuals at work says he enjoys listening to my IPOD but he doesn't know a lot of the songs so he has Shazam on his phone and he holds it near my IPOD or speaker to find out the song and artists, this one always stumps him though as he says he likes the song but it doesn't show up on Shazam, i told him most likely because it is not an official version of the song but a remix that some had done.

John St Peeters - So Many Ways I Want You

Ironically on sky racing which is where I heard Time To Pretend when I posted it last week I always said an unexpected perk of working at TAB was whoever played the music on SKY racing had great taste

My daughter explained Shazam to me a few weeks back. I’d never heard of it before. I also have to admit I’ve never heard a few of the oldies you’ve posted recently. It’s been very interesting listening to them.

They were songs i grew up with MR and though now some of them are obscure now they got plenty of air play back in the day and they have never grown out of favour with me and some can take me back to a nice safe place in time ( or should i say listening to them made me feel in a safer place )
