Boomerang in Paraguay
Graeme Connors
Bet you haven't heard this one from Australia's finest (imho). The story of William Lane put to song. Late 1800s in Oz he was disaffected with life here, so got a large posse of farmers, shearers , labourers and their families together in a big boat and sailed to Paraguay to start a new place...New Australia. Fascinating story...got me reading about it. Great song too as only Connors can do.

Dustland
The Killers ft. Bruce Springsteen
Triple play from JFC.
Haven't listened to the Killers much at all but this one with the Boss piqued my interest. Great rock ballad type in the Steinman style the way it bullds and incorporates some orchestral content. Will check these guys more now.

Was a little bit of quiet time at work tonight and this song came on and i thought what a great and almost forgotten song it is. It is still one of the biggest selling songs in Australia and spent 14 weeks at number one, it is hardly heard these days compared to some other ABBA songs.

It was huge and I do like it but I’m pretty sure you’ve said that genre is not something you usually listen to? They then changed their sound up with the follow up album Sam’s Town and started channeling The Boss. I haven’t listened to any of their other albums so can’t comment on those.
Look I'm a meat and three veg kinda guy when it comes to music ,( two guitars, bass, drum, maybe keyboards or fiddle). Not a big fan of too much electronica or synthesiser heavy production..
However there is some music I love that meshes some big orchestra with your traditional rock/pop/country bands. The Boss does it, Meatloaf, Farnsy...and many many others obviously.
I listened to a bit more of the Killers this arvo, there is some of that electronica theme mixed in, but its still good stuff. Will consume a bit more.
