      • Can't say I ever listened to or enjoyed the 'songs of [my] era'.

However, when a pop star from the previous era dies, all my FB friends all start crying and pretending they were massive fans (when in reality, their songs were all daggy, random tunes that you'd hear as background music while playing Pac-Man at some old pizza shop... memorable... but not tunes that most would consider their all-time favourites unless their dad locked them up in his mancave, held a shotgun to their head and said 'listen son, THIS is the only REAL music!!!').

        • I nearly fell off my chair when this one came up on my shuffle as I didn't even realise that I had this. Jimmy Barnes covering my all time favourite Bruce Springsteen song, Tougher Than The Rest:

"Those who care about you can hear you, even when you are quiet" - Steve Maraboli

          • And this one I could listen to over and over. Barnsey with Tina Arena:

            • If my Mum was still around, I would have bought this for her. The songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin covered by country singers such as Vince Gill, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Don Henley, Little Big Town, Dolly Parton, Roseanne Cash and Miranda Lambert:

              • That's a classy song Eddie. It reminds me of growing up as my older sisters listened to Neil and also the Beatles. I got a good musical education at home.

                • My Mum's favourite singer and she was lucky enough to see him in concert. This is playing right now on my shuffle:

                  I have these versions too:

Not sure if this link works, but its one of the great pop tunes of the era. So good it didn't matter whether you agreed with the sentiments or not.

OMG Jack, that is one of the 'default' songs I have stored in my brain to hum along to. It was on Rage a while back and I've added it to my iTunes wishlist as it's one of the rare tracks I DON'T have. Up to 10,452 songs now on the shuffle. I remember your Mum asking me if I liked music..and I showed her my iPod..back then it had around 7,000 songs. It has capacity for 30,000 songs..

                              • This has come up on my shuffle and I used to stay up late to see it on Rage. Quintessential Australian song with heartfelt lyrics:
