    Yep, you're right.

Does this qualify as a gentle folk song?

Eddie, you are putting up songs which are played often on my IPOD, Bread's Everything I Own and Joan Baez's The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, they come up at least once a week when i play the IPOD at work.

A New World Record is also my favourite of theirs.
HI MR, rarely would i ever use the C word but when it comes to my father it fits perfectly, enough said about that.

Dancing Queen is one of those feel good dance floor songs that gets every one dancing and singing away, some of the musical experts said they have tried to dissect the song and there are so many different things going on in it at different levels. Funny though it isn't in my top favourite ABBA songs, i like it but just others i like more, my top 5 are. 1-Summer Night City 2 -SOS 3-The Visitors 4-The Winner Takes It All 5- The Day Before You Came, there are so many other classics though as we all know.

When we first met my better half said they didn't like ELO, reckoned everything sounded the same, when we were in Europe in 2011 i bought an ELO box set in Amsterdam, was playing some of it where we stayed in Spain and a song called Getting to the Point came on and my better half commented what a good song that was, then to my surprise a couple of months ago we were sitting on the lounge listening to music and the better half said i'm glad you persisted playing ELO because i really like them now and i turned and said you don't realise how happy you have just made me, it doesn't take much to me me happy but that definitely did.

Yes it really is a very poignant song by Elton. You can feel and hear the sadness and the clip is very stark, eerie and reeking of loneliness. Yes I was grateful for the extended trip for my 40th and went onto London to visit another niece. Lots of high teas in both cities..I really do hope you get to make that trip with your husband MR. It truly is a wonderful place. The old saying "He who is tired of London, is tired of life" is very true. I always felt at home in the UK.

I just was talking to someone in Huddersfield who wants me to visit next year and I have another friend in outer Manchester to visit too, plus I want to go to Warwickshire and visit the castle seeing as I grew up in the Queensland equivalent....minus the castle.... My baby niece in London will turn 2 in March 2023, perfect age for me to play with her and her dad was born in Sheffield, home of these musical acts:

                • Out of all the concerts I went to, Peter Gabriel left the biggest impression on me. There is just something so charismatic about the man.

                    Split Enz farewell tour
                    Crowded House - 3 times
                    Finn Brothers
Neil Finn solo....see a trend here?
                    Paul McCartney twice
                    Elton twice
                    U2
                    Billy Joel
                    ACDC
                    Powderfinger
                    Icehouse
                    Eurythmics
                    Melissa Etheridge Twice
                    Del Amitri
                    1927
John Denver - several times - I went with my Mum who was a huge fan.
There were a few other smaller bands at the ANU bar but I can't remember them lol!
My biggest regret was not getting to see David Bowie live.
Forgot i also saw Elaine Paige which i'm sure was at the State Theatre, she couldn't hit some of the notes she could back in 80's and 90's but was still a good overall performance.

Also saw Dame Julie Andrews at the State Theatre, it was more a informal chat with the audience because she cannot sing since an operation to have nodules removed from her throat damaged her vocal chords, still it was a great night and Julie was on my bucket list of performers i wanted to see.

Yep edit, it was the Wednesday night the 17th October.
We were at Spicks and Specks too at the same time. You had said to me to look out for you as you were wearing a Roosters polo. . I'd gone to the Greek place nearby with my friend, the same one who lives not far from you and who is having that birthday in July (I'm posting the birthday card for your other half today from the same artist as the card I've bought for my friend as its not actually raining!)

I remember we didn't have each other's phone numbers back in those days as we used to chat via message on the old Wall and that was how Tones and I kept in touch too until we swapped numbers and then he gave me his email address so we used to swap all sorts of photos..Oh I remembered he invited me to go and see Hilary Duff with him but I couldn't go. Shame that as I really like Hilary even to this day and enjoy her films and TV shows too.

                          Ma Foi !
I have no idea how. We discussed ipods when this thread started about 5 years ago, but I never went down that path. I took too long to download anything so my daughter claimed the thing.
The bread song came into my head after listening to John Denver, and Joan Baez came up as a suggestion on utube.
                          I hadn't heard it since I was a kid.

Anyway.........perhaps this will break the chain.

That's a lovely story Horrie. I think I've opened my other half's ears to a whole new world of music too over the years. He only ever listened to late 80's music and the Beatles. He still does haha! But he's told me that I've introduced him to so many other artists and songs he never would have even thought about.

I also liked Glittering Prize, All the Things She Said, and Promised you a Miracle.

Oh no Demis Roussos. We unfortunately had an album or two of his in Mum and Dad's music library when growing up. They also had Nana Mouskouri ! The less said the better
