can some of you actually accept that after a protracted period of conservative government, when labor regains power there is a pressing need for reform in social, political and industrial areas, this current minority government has been as reformist as the whitlam govt after Menzies. of course if Howard had invested a little in the future instead of piling up the national credit from all that gst, if he had considered that work choices was not really the reform wanted by the population of our nation, if he had the guts to bring in the ets he spoke of but never attempted, then so many reforms of this government would not have been needed. its very easy to lope along with populist sentiment to squawk along with Hadley and Jones in desecrating this government, but before you do, try to understand the degree of difficulty imposed upon this govt. from the fall of the flag, the gfc hit the world, no assistance from Abbott and his no men to combat it, but the govt did it, OK spending a lot of Howard's ill gotten gains to do so, but unlike many other countries ie USA, UK, Europe, Australia has emerged in good shape, without massive unemployment or weird interest rates; just give some thought to the bigger picture!

Having lived in the U.S. and the U.K. for extended periods, I know how lucky we are in this country. But this country, as Donald Horne put it, is run by second-rate people who share its luck.
In no way do I want Tony Abbott running Australia. But that said, I don't want the current crop of the ALP running it either.
Seeing the freshly L.A.S.I.X'D former Prime Minister, Mr. Howard the other night on Sky made me realize what was lost.
And that's coming from a rusted on Labor man. Well, up until a year ago.
That said, Julia will be gone sooner rather than later. We will have to suffer the Bunnies until Harto has another go at turfing them out.

I'd prefer Souths...Gillard is useless and just raised the nation's debt ceiling from $200billion to $250billion as she and her cohorts borrow and spend/waste money like there's no tomorrow, which there won't be unless something changes and soon.
Interest has to be paid on borrowed money, and it will all have to be repaid by somebody, namely GenY, Gen Z and future generations.
In the meantime we'll end up like Greece and Ireland...a basket-case.
China is starting to buy minerals from Chinese-owned companies in West Africa.
Oh, and captains Bligh and Gillard are selling off all our best agricultural land to foreign nations, China, Qatar, India etc for coal seam gas mining etc, open cut mines ...and towns in Qld [and now Vic] are being ruined, there goes our future food production.
What does 3rd world food taste like?Last edited by bondi-boy; 09-03-2011, 05:27 PM.

Its comforting seeing how many people have finally admitted to making a mistake in 07. This government must be pissed off quickly.
Only the rusted on Ruddites (yes this shit started with that useless wanker) can never admit it.
Long Live 07 hey kobber!!!?? Sad waste of 4 years weve had. Thankfully itll be another decade before they allow these idiots to run teh place into the ground. Hopefully by then there'll be no Green fringe lunatics, and new blood in both main parties that focus on real solutions and not just popularity contests.Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.

Luckily, I won't be here when the nation is just another 3rd world dump...as it will surely be if things stay as they are.
Thousands of jobs have been lost already as cheap labour has become king.
Qantas and Blue Scope the latest ones to shed jobs by the thousands...as China dumps steel here, and Asian 'slave wage' workers replace Aussies at Qantas [who just announced a large profit].
