If Australia wanted Labor to deliver on their promises, as they were promised, they should have given Labor a majority. They didn't.

Ya gets what ya pays for.
Australian's don't want a carbon tax polls would indicate that. The result of the election was due to a very poor first term government who knifed their leader. Or a very unconvincing opposition, I said at the time on here I can't believe how close Abbott came to winning. Labor botched their whole campaign they should of won easily

This isn't an ideal situation and I don't think you will see a repeat next time.

But what you are saying is correct. I take Gillard on face value that there would of been no carbon tax but to form the minority Govenment she did what the Green's wanted.

What will this tax do for the envinonment? Let's be honest it will do pretty much nothing. But something should be done by the big polluters because this is an important issue.

you truly are on ignorant knobhead Cookey Chris.

Politicians, economists and scientists around the world, not everyone one but the vast majority all agree that an emissions trading scheme, cap n trade call it what you want is the best solution to reduce carbon emissions and encourage ' greener ' forms of energy. Fark me even the Chinese are moving towards it with the province of Guandong which is one of the most heavily industrialised parts of China is bringing in its scheme in 2013.
You are a funny fellow Henry with your completely unbaised opinions
Not to mention incredibly well informed.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but everything you said is no less crap than the opposing view. The Vast majority support your argument because you think so, not because its fact. Opinions are much more split than you would ever be willing to admit.

You and your lefty buddies can think that the carbon tax will definitely benefit the environment, thats fine with me. Its just I dont' believe that this carbon tax will benefit anything Australian, environment or not. Thats just my opinion as yours is yours.

But to call someone an ignorant knobhead just because they have a different opinion, shows where the ignorance and narrow mindedness really lies.

I was in America a couple of years back and I was a novelty.

That said, the passing of the Carbon Dioxide tax was talked about on Fox news. Neil Cavuto, one of their business presenters shook his head, in what I can only think was disgust.

Exactly. This is our version of sub-prime loans. Giving money to people who are too mentally incompetent to use it correctly.

You want to start saving this country, you do the following.

                    1. *CENSORED DUE TO SEDITION LAWS* Julia Gillard and Bob Brown.

                    2. Stop the 5000 dollars every time a woman spreads her legs. The ones who need it should not have kids.

                    3. If not outright sterilisation on mentally incompetent females then at least enforcing contraception, forcefully.

                    4. Short of an actual war to fight, bring back national service.

                    5. Enforcing a curfew on children under 18 of 9:30 pm - it works in Texas.

                    6. Make parents responsible for the actions of their children, charging them with neglect if their children are out after dark and public shaming them.

None of this will happen because we are a pissweak country.

I'm reminded of the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, as fronted by Michael Franti. They put out a song called Satanic Reverses in 1992 which a play on Salman Rushdie's otherwise excruciatingly dull book Satanic Verses - I'm convinced the fatweh against him was because of the book being boring rather than offensive to Muslims but that's just me.

                    This song.

                    Contains this lyric.

                    'Til the street samurai
                    Said to my face that
Any flag that's worth a shit
Was woven from fire in the first place.

That sums up our country perfectly. We were handed "sovereignty" by England. Take a country like America, which before the progressive century, was a fiercely independent nation that kicked back twice as hard if it was ever attacked. The Japs killed 3000 or so at Pearl Harbour then the Yanks nuked 250,000 fishermen.

Anyway, their flag was forged with bloody revolution - of the people and by the people and except for a few misfires, have been led by honourable men because their voting system is a first past the post system for President. I reiterate the fact that if Al Gore had won in 2000 then this carbon dioxide bullshit would have been embedded before the majority of us realised that shoving our economy into a shower block that sprays Zyklon B instead of delousing powder is a horrifically stupid idea.

We're saddled with compulsory preferential voting federally where South Australia and Tasmania get just as much say as N.S.W. Victoria and Queensland.

If the last election was run the way 99% of other countries are run where it's first past the post then this current paradigm with Bob Brown's fist up Julia's arse wouldn't have happened.

When America, whose economy is hanging by a chad (2000 reference), laughs at us, you know we're really stuffed.

Ironic or no, I did have a brief career as a foil to a late night Triple M host. A life expletive laden (and coke fueled) rant about John Howard got us both fired.

That said, i'd be an Alan Berg type I suspect. I can actually do this rant from Talk Radio verbatim when pissed off enough.

Ignorance is not having a different opinion nor not being respectful of someone elses, its a lack of knowledge and for Cookey to suggest that the Carbon Tax and MRRT is a left wing conspiracy for wealth re distrubution presents exactly as that.

Even the right wing bible The Economist editorilises that an emission trading scheme is the most appropriate method of reducing emissions. Conservative govts agree with Australias action - David Cameron has endorsed it.

Both sides of the political spectrum agree that a market based approach is best , except Abbott who wants to plant trees

Dont also forget that John Howard had also planned to introduce a scheme in 2012.

No but ignorance is a very close relative of your good friend "blinkered narrow mindedness" and lacking the ability to understand that people have an alternate opinion, well that is ignorance in my book

and don't bullshit me, both sides do not agree that a market based approach is best. I am sure there members of both sides that probably do agree but just as probable there are members on both sides that do not agree with this notion but remember people keep their mouths shut due to party politics.

Make up all the shit you want and combine it with other bits that are fact or something someone else made up, it doesn't make you supremely correct.

The Carbon trading scheme better work, else this country is going to something I didn't think could happen, get even more ****ed over by the red headed idiot, the even dumber Swan and the most evil of them all Bob Brown
