So how would you handle the latest outbreak?

Firstly, don't lock people or economies down....those effects will take years of recovery and severe collateral damage.

Focus on the aged and vulnerable...specific planning and actions to protect hospitals, nursing homes. Vaccinate workers and residents.

Promote hygienic practices for the general populace and dont go to work edicts when sick. Also dont use public transport when sick.

Fix sloppy quarantine practices to avoid melbourne, ruby princess and sydney limo driver mishaps.

Generally, if the vulnerable are protected, the rest of the population need to live with the risk of viruses. Colds and Flus have always been around and yes some people do die. They also die from other things too.

Everything you say makes sense and is realistic and achievable now that there is a vaccine. Personally i think Boris Johnson has made the right decision. He did his job and had anyone who wanted to be vaccinated accommodated. July 19 all restrictions off-everything- no grey areas.

Australia has done a great job thus far keeping deaths down. We reopened and the economy was roaring back & unemployment levels were nearly at pre-pandemic levels. As people were able to find unemployment there wasn't a massive amount of housing foreclosures that was predicted....& in actual fact the housing market hit new records in 2021...as has the ASX also hitting record highs.

Unfortunately despite the best financial assistance from the government some small businesses went under-mostly in the retail sector. What trade they would have had in a community that would have been reluctant to get out and about is debatable. As for suicides in NSW there were 43 less suicides in 2020 than there was in 2019- a 5% drop. In Victoria there were 20 less suicides in 2020 than in 2019- despite Paul Murray pulling out figures from his arse thinking no one would check the Australian Bureau of statistics. If lockdowns did have an affect on suicides you can safely say it wasn't significant.

All in all i think after we get out of this latest hole we are still in a good position. I wouldn't want to be in any other country

A question for the lockdown fans and anyone else who cares to answer. With double digit cases recorded in Victoria yesterday and multiple exposure sites being added. Why do you think it is that in a state that has locked down hard and early recently over less than a handful of cases, is now not doing so when numbers hit double digits in a single day ? Maybe they will do it today I’m genuinely puzzled by their inaction after their recent form with this and knowing what has happening in NSW.

He is a weak sook. Started throwing insults about yesterday when people disagreed with him. Then goes and cries im not coming on here when some respond back. The exact type i have described in this country with no back bone and no resilience. I couldnt care less if he never posts here again. Good riddance I say Give me the likes of Rented Tracksuit and Random Rooster at least they have some backbone even if I have disagreed with them.

Totally agree.
I take it that Andy has never experienced anyone who has had mental health issues especially at these times.
He probably laughs when a footy player says he needs time away to treat his mental health issue as a "weak sook with no backbone or resilience".
Not suggesting that 1908 falls in that category but there are others who would read Andy's comments who may be suffering and take it to heart.
Andy - your comments were of a low life human who appears to be on the backfoot with this whole argument. Maybe you are the one who is now chucking a tanty and deflecting it to others.

LOL Buddy if you say so Yeah Ive dealt with mental health and overcame them But yeah it is always a battle. Even had insults thrown at me about my mental health in this thread for mentioning things which were demosntrably true. Didnt see you come in then with your caring attitude I guess you are selective in whose mental health you worry about

1908 and his sidekick didn't seem to care about my mental health yesterday when they were sniggering and referring to me as Red. All I was trying to do was say that some of us can't be vaccinated for medical reasons and he kept coming back at me like a battering ram. Maybe that's what he needs to change his avatar to. I'm still so shocked as like I said before he and I always got on well and I felt safe talking to him about personal matters as he mentioned he has a wife and daughters. Well I'm still someone's daughter even though my dad died 40 years ago.
