Zac it would be great if those that choose not to get vaccinated ,not those that can't get vaccinated where made to wear masks and the ones that had been done had more freedom .I know it would be hard to police but would maybe entice some to think againWhen you trust your television
what you get is what you got

they can bend it all they want

I look at it it the other way. These measures are ensuring families, communities and business can move forward safely into the future and prosper.

from what i've read the vaccine provides significant protection v even getting covid but if you do get it you're just as infectious as if you hadn't got the vaccine but your period of infectiousness is shorter than if you weren't vaccinated. so yes, delta changes infectiousness but in a contest not to die or get hospitalised between someone who's had the jab and someone who hasn't you'd want to back the vaccinated person every time. every time!
you said you're open to having the jab and good on you but when you say that aus is having a huge surge in cases coinciding with a huge increase in vaccination numbers you're just being dishonest. it's the huge increase in numbers that is causing the increase in vaccination numbers not the other way around.

Don't be fooled that a lot of decisions around this virus aren't political now as much as any 'health' response. Fed election looming next year, Labor premiers locking down whole states, cities for tiny case numbers...hmmm. In NSW our Glad would (privately) prefer a softer more holistic response, but Chant wants perennial lockdowns and restrictions. Did we vote for Chant to control our lives? Don't think so. Expect some breakaway political groups forming from current parties.
If I could fantasise a moment, a new political aspirant who said:
" Broad lockdowns will only be used in wartime or for imminent terrorist threats, not to repel viruses. Police and armed forces will be used for their core purpose of fighting crime and wartime efforts. Healthy people will still be allowed to work, and kids allowed to go school. Kids have already missed over 12 months of their education life and sporting recreation. Targetted smaller location restrictions could apply if absolutely neccessary. No daily press conferences scaring people with new case figures. Unless we also provide other statistical information such as deaths from other health causes, numbers of businesses closed, domestic abuse cases, suicides/or attempts, calls to Lifeline and Kids Helpline etc. We need to consider a holistic approach in dealing with health, economic and social consequences and risks. We don't elect politicians to rely on one stream of 'health advice' to govern their actions, ignoring all else. Get vaccinated, isolate when sick, practice the best hygiene. But live your life. We can't allow self inflicted harm inposed on society to continue at the whim of our current leaders. Vote one I M Best".

No to Clive, same dictatorial tendencies as McGowan and Andrews. I like Kelly, but he's probably too fair dinkum for the grubby political game. I think the Lib Democrats might be taking a 'no lockdowns' policy to the election, but what's the rest of their story?
