i think they believed their own bullshit about them being the anti-lockdown gold standard. sure, they'd done well up until then but the delta variant is a game changer. if only it was ravaging the world beforehand we might have known how bad it was. oh hang on, it was and we should have.
in their defence they were the victim of having an efficient contact tracing system that made them think they might be able to stay on top of it but they were wrong.
Haha....can she be our new Chief Elf Officer instead of Scary Chant?

LOL the vaccinated are just as likely to transmit it as the unvaccinated. Possibly even more likely and they may well be the drivers of the spread now UK Europe Malaysia and now Australia have all had huge surges in cases that coincided with huge increase in vaccination numbers

Wake up to what? Some big conspiracy to break up families, communities and businesses? Not sure why that would anyone’s ‘conspiracy’?

I look at it it the other way. These measures are ensuring families, communities and business can move forward safely into the future and prosper.

I totally understand and agree with you but the point to it is that the vaccinated are less likely to end up in ICU and be a burden on the health system.Thats what the vaccination is all about , not stopping the spread but slowing it and less death and less extreme cases.

They will never get the chance to move forward and live their lives in a free society under the current political leaders, however.

Come on Jack , that's a bit of a stretch.I admit 100% the descions in this phase of the virus in NSW have been lacking in a month, two months or so there will be enough people vaccinated that we can move forward .I am confident big that .Os hope you and your mutt are keeping safe and sane in these tough times. Also same to everyone who is suffering and doing it tough . Hopefully soon we may all be able to get there lives in a normal manner

Who do we replace them with? Clive Palmer or Craig Kelly?

you're flogging a dead horse. remember the time you quoted an article which showed how a large % who had the virus were vaccinated but the article quoted the more damning statistic that hospitalizations and deaths were nearly 100% unvaccinated.

from what i've read the vaccine provides significant protection v even getting covid but if you do get it you're just as infectious as if you hadn't got the vaccine but your period of infectiousness is shorter than if you weren't vaccinated. so yes, delta changes infectiousness but in a contest not to die or get hospitalised between someone who's had the jab and someone who hasn't you'd want to back the vaccinated person every time. every time!

you said you're open to having the jab and good on you but when you say that aus is having a huge surge in cases coinciding with a huge increase in vaccination numbers you're just being dishonest. it's the huge increase in numbers that is causing the increase in vaccination numbers not the other way around.

No to Clive, same dictatorial tendencies as McGowan and Andrews. I like Kelly, but he's probably too fair dinkum for the grubby political game. I think the Lib Democrats might be taking a 'no lockdowns' policy to the election, but what's the rest of their story?

Don't be fooled that a lot of decisions around this virus aren't political now as much as any 'health' response. Fed election looming next year, Labor premiers locking down whole states, cities for tiny case numbers...hmmm. In NSW our Glad would (privately) prefer a softer more holistic response, but Chant wants perennial lockdowns and restrictions. Did we vote for Chant to control our lives? Don't think so. Expect some breakaway political groups forming from current parties.

If I could fantasise a moment, a new political aspirant who said:
" Broad lockdowns will only be used in wartime or for imminent terrorist threats, not to repel viruses. Police and armed forces will be used for their core purpose of fighting crime and wartime efforts. Healthy people will still be allowed to work, and kids allowed to go school. Kids have already missed over 12 months of their education life and sporting recreation. Targetted smaller location restrictions could apply if absolutely neccessary. No daily press conferences scaring people with new case figures. Unless we also provide other statistical information such as deaths from other health causes, numbers of businesses closed, domestic abuse cases, suicides/or attempts, calls to Lifeline and Kids Helpline etc. We need to consider a holistic approach in dealing with health, economic and social consequences and risks. We don't elect politicians to rely on one stream of 'health advice' to govern their actions, ignoring all else. Get vaccinated, isolate when sick, practice the best hygiene. But live your life. We can't allow self inflicted harm inposed on society to continue at the whim of our current leaders. Vote one I M Best".

                            Ya got my vote Besty!

Are you sure about that mate? I know he was bashed up for comments about ivermectin and the treatment side of covid which had evidence in support anyway. I'm certainly not an anti Vaxer.
