australia has a history of anti-aboriginal sentiment - it wasn't universal, but it was real and it's good for the country to acknowledge that so that we can move on. it's inevitable that a few noses are going to be put out of joint as we come to terms with our past and the effect that has on the present. goodes called out a racist comment on ground and no one can complain about him doing that. a lot of players turn the other cheek and no one can complain about that either if that's what works for them.
hard to be sure of what every person who booed goodes was thinking when they booed him but i'd guess some of them were at least casually anti-aboriginal - 'what makes them think they're so special' etc.
people talk about the unconscious bias that refs have v the roosters and the same thing is at work when it comes to skin colour and ethnicity.
but also, there are still some full blown racists around and it's hard for them to be honest so some present themselves as anti-anti-'racists'. doesn't mean the anti-'racists' are always accurate but racism exists and it's good not to defend it
