You steadfastly support a bosses coalition that doesn't reflect your core values. What? Is there the hope they'll change and if the case is that that is highly improbable, you vote for them anyway?
I am not an ALP supporter - too many tame cat catholics and what not - but I prefer any progressive over the party of privilege and Capital. The ALP is not the Government, they have no power but a recounting of their policy achievements when in government clearly indicates which side they're on. And it's not on the side of a few who have $2m+ Super accounts and oodles of bank shares but still get "refunds" of taxes they haven't paid. Meanwhile there is a growing population of those who will never be able to afford a house. Maybe your kids are part of that group?
The guff that you read about China comes from the US courtesy of Murdoch and a cabal of right wing propaganda outfits here like ASPI. China wants to lead nations of the world to peace and prosperity - read about the Belt and Road initiative but not in our MSM, they're all frightened for their jobs. The Chinese have NO record of aggression going back centuries - again read someone unbiased on the recent border clash with India. The Indians tried it on once before, same result, but they have a Hindu nationalist leader who has committed numerous HR outrages in Kashmir which we never hear about. Like we never hear about the abuse of Palestinian human rights. Large numbers of them have been in camps since the 6 Day War.
All that's got nothing to do with what I asked , why do you support China so much above out own country. Also never said I voted liberal , if you read back I suspect you will see I vote for whoever I think will be best for our country , my family and my self .At the moment I do believe that to be the current Government .I am as I said somewhat pro green but only because I do believe we are polluting to much , I detest plastic .I do not believe that humans can do anything to stop climate change because I also believe it is a natural occurance that we are merely contributing to .Just the other day and I'm not sure where indian arrows and spears where found under ice that had melted over the las 5000 years .To me that is proof that ice comes and goes but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do whatever we can to stop polluting and stop tree logging and using coal as our main source of electricity .if that makes me somewhat of a Greenie the yes I guess I am .Again agree we need to trade with China but not at the expense of our own set of values .We need to find others and not put all our eggs in one basket, it's not rocket science to realise that if you don't diversify then you can be held for ransom whenever they feel like it and that includes anyone we deal with

    • * If you'd read it properly instead of composing your response half way through you'd see that I set out my support for China. Above all, it underpins our prosperity as it does most other countries. How come our Asian neighbours haven't got out the megaphone?
      * What are "our own set values"? Murdering innocents in places where we are supposed to be helping them? Locking up people for 10 years who have done nothing but seek asylum? Blowing up 40000 year old cultural relics? Joining in to invade other countries in other hemispheres when our interests are not involved? Spying on and ripping off the poorest nation in the world (Timor L'Este)? Selling wheat to Sadam Hussein? Cheering on the rich shit head who wants to destroy Dewsbury Sam? Give us a break '08, that "our values" is a crock o' shit peddled again by the Libs with News Ltd on the megaphone.
      * Believing the "current government is best" means that you vote for them - why would you believe that anyway? We were on the verge of recession before Covid. No, you're rusted on buddy - unaccountably so.
      * The overwhelming preponderance of science opinion the world over plus the recent announcements of international Government intentions re 2050 suggest that your denialist position is delusional. Where'd ya get it? Deep thought over sleepless nights or just from a quick read in the Tele?
I've explained enough, no use talking to a "small business" person with little time for education. I have brother in law who salvages wool packs, scrap metal and pallets and in so doing thinks of himself as a small business person. He, too, is a rusted on and all the kids left school at Year 10 or earlier. I've had enough explaining, it's about time that you had a shot at responding to the issues posed above. You can start with where I am wrong.

And good on your brother in law , small business is the backbone of this country . What may I ask is your contribution .
Our values a certainly more than you have suggested. You cant run a country or a business without making mistakes , its how you own up to them and fix them . For me I think Australia is a mighty good country , sure there is problems but were isn't . Think maybe if you dislike it so much then you should leave. That is if you haven't already or never did live here.

        • So despite our multitudinous "mistakes", which haven't been owned up to, far from it, you think we can still direct the megaphone at China? Mmmm....
As long as we're back to prehistory arrow heads we're still a chance, we're not yet back to nuthin'. Possibly we can start doing something about it.
And you're close to the money...I'm actually a troll stationed at the Chinese Embassy targeting opinion makers like yourself.

It shows that it wasn't there thousands of years ago , so i guess it did melt on that scale at some time in the past . As stated we should do everything we can to stop pollution and damaging the environment as its just a stupid thing to do , but to think we can stop mother nature is just showing your , ours , arrogance
