A relatively new addition to the count? China. While the past couple of decades have seen China send only a relative handful of cars to the Australian market, the recent launch of brands like Haval, MG and LDV are beginning to see the needle shift dramatically.

So far in 2018, Chinese brands have been responsible for 4399 vehicles sold in Australia, all of them built in China. That's a significant increase on 2017 alone, when just 2390 vehicles came here from China.
Its hard enough for the Australian government to balance our economy in the best of times, let alone in this this time of crisis. Australian citizens have high expectations....and so we should for this is truly the greatest nation in the world. Thats why i'm so critical of Dutton's comments about China- it was damaging & reckless.....and based on a "American Intelligence" report -which are two words that should not be used in the same sentence. The fact he didn't even see this report is even more ridiculous.

I didn't know there were 4399 Chinese made cars sold in Australia. The Australian government can only do so much when it comes to trade with China. When people say we need to ditch China as a trading partner i say no we need to take more of their money! Just don't let them buy property here and tax them hard on businesses they set up here. We shouldn't be for sale to any overseas interest

I think we the people should be taking on China, or India,Vietnam,Bangladesh-whoever.. Im passionate about buying Australian goods- especially produce of Australia. Eg i only buy Western Star original block butter "made in Australia from 100% ingredients". Maybe its a topic for another thread!

Launched into a vicious tirade of China and the WHO.

Let me guess....shooting her mouth off sounding like a delusional hyena on crack? If she was in charge we would be bankrupt before the end of the month. Luckily no one takes her racist bullshit seriously

            What she said was good.
And she's backing Trump in his threats to pull funding of the WHO permanently if it doesn't reform.

            Racist?
China doesn't seem to worry about racism as it shafts white-majority Australia.

I think Pauline cops a tough rap sometimes, and is still paying the penalty for her early parliamentary comments which were dumb and misguided.

However she has improved over the years in better articulating her message, albeit still not the greatest orator.

She loves Australia and wants to represent true blue Aussies largely, and I guess that is her mandate. Like her views or policies, or not.

She has proven to be 100% correct with her concerns about China's level of ownership and influence in this country. Maybe we would be better off if other pollies had been similarly concerned.

Don't want her or say the Greens (omigod) running the country, but I now admit she is good for "keeping the bastards honest".

Are you talking about her performance on Chris Kennys show on SKY?

Sorry mate....Australia is better than that. She offers nothing besides vindictive hate. We have come too far as a nation to have a Neanderthal like her represent what we are about.

                      Perfect RWB.

I trust the salt and pepper vessels are a red white blue combo too.

P.s. why have salt and pepper shakers become so complicated and artsy these days? In the old days of dine in cafes I could usually only successfully expel the salt /pepper from the shakers, say, about every third cafe.

Atm we seemingly are being "persecuted".
She's only fighting the good fight.
She says things that others are too scared to say lest they be branded racist, xenophobic etc.
Part of her tirade was about 'baby formula'. (some people currently on trial here for stealing tins of baby formula and sending them overseas...one woman stealing 80-100 tins per day.)
Said she, para: "They should not be allowed to send baby formula (from supermarkets) overseas...if they want baby formula (to send overseas) they should have to buy it direct from the company here." (which businesses overseas already do.)

LOl. I just threw out my old salt and pepper mills as they were getting hard to grind. Now I'm looking out for some new ones and they all look like perspex space ships . I was telling Horrie Hastings how I found vintage ones on Etsy, my favourite online marketplace, as it only sells vintage and handmade wares. You are not allowed to list anything that you did not make yourself or is younger than 20 years old..That's where I do my Australian made shopping..not made in China.

I don't put the napkins out in case someone uses them for dog bandanas...

No they are from Portugal as my sister bought them for me. The Rooster is one of Portugal's national symbols and represents honesty, trust, integrity and honour.

no doubt Pauline strikes a chord with some decent people. for mine she's off the mark with some of what she says and okay on other things. as far as independents go I think Jackie Lambie gets it more right.

casual racism is regrettably a part of the place, but as far as 'right-wing crackpots' go, Pauline isn't the worst. if anything, she just needs a good spanking sometimes.

                                Pauline is no 'right-wing crackpot'.
She's a nice lady just doing her best.
She has her opinions, other people have theirs.
As long as it's legal she should be allowed to say it.

Not a big fan of Kevin 07.
