You're probably right, in more ways than one.

    Chook.

THE FOLLOWING IS AN ATTEMPT, HOWEVER POOR, AT SARCASM.

I agree, the ad hominem attacks never achieve anything...you frigging arseclown.

I thank you for your indulgence.

Its great to see a Nobel Prize winning author gracing this lowly internet forum with his esteemed prescence.

            Sorry can't agree.
I am reasonably sure John is not Chook. John, although I don't agree with him sometimes is amusing.
Chook, I have met years ago, and we disagree on a few things, but I still classify him as a mate.
The Internet is a place for posting silly things

I can assure you that I am NOT that tree hugging Fabian socialist pot head Chook.

And thanks for Disgraced, I got a distinction in English Lit because of that book.

                Yes, standards are falling.
I love forum identities. You are a bore. But chook seems to have colonised this section of the forum. It is always the same tripe, though perseverance has allowed that classic liberal hypocrisy to percolate to the top. As an example, he derided my views because the referent has had gay sex.
I am eager for a bit more substance in my antagonists. I know this is only a RL forum but show yourself and lets go blow to blow. I'll be Fox, you be CBN. No, i'll be bogan and you be whatever is obverse in 21st c strine..

Actually I derided your views before the reference to gay sex see post #6. And I can equally assure you I am not the uTube addicted, anal retentive, soccer mum wannabe John. So do you think you've played us off against one another sufficiently to stroke your little ego?

You're either looking for an ego trip or perhaps an existing poster looking do to some fishing? I'm thinking the latter. In fact your posts have a distinct Rocky Rhodes flavour to them ie - blantantly wrong, self serving, pointless, juvenile, screaming for acceptance.

Do you wish for acceptance? Cause I can give it to you, but you have to ask nicely.

                  Chook.

From a brief survey i note your most recent thread titles have been:
                    Is Democracy dying
                    The death of cricket
More proof that the morons running America have lost the plot completely
Holidaying in Australia is one slow, painful rip-off!
Australia needs a parlimentary enquiry into media ownership
                    Are you farking kidding me????

I hardly think acceptance can come from you. Self serving and all the rest of it i'll leave others to stew over.
Feeling that you have come after the event. That one is at the end of things. This is perennial affliction of the romantic, neurotic and elderly. Peculiarly, conservatism, often effaces such feelings because it places current experience within a continuum. It is the weak liberal, bereft of narrative, that desperately calls for a return....to fill the lack. I note the only real liberal movement in this country for a while has been environmentalism. Climate change provides a neat alibi for lack, absence the "afterness" of things.
V>S Naipaul in his novel, The enigma of Arrival, riffed beautifully on the phenomon of a accidia, or monks disease, of the middle ages. It was noted that moks had a disproportionately high rate of suicide and that a profound torpor and ennui characterised the monks behaviour. Investigations uncovered that most monks felt a profound sense of absence. That secretly, they believed the rooms and gardens of the great European monatries were empty shells, artefacts of a previous time. God had left the building and they were now living in a world without purpose.

                    Repeat after me..."yes we can".

All that and you can't admit you were wrong regarding when and what I derided you about?

It's easy to show what a shallow little man you are and why you would crave the acceptance of somone like me.

Ask, ask and it shall be granted.
