I think this post is way out of line. You don't know anything about this guy.

Police officers are faced with a very difficult job at times, and overall they do a good job in my book.

The footage from the cricket shows an exception to this because I believe an excessive use of force was used. Coupdeville has not condoned the behaviour used by the officer but does take exception the the "pig hating" jmcotseeya...and fair enough...(I think that is correct)..

Melon you are a very poor speller. However, do you really believe that posters mean everything they say? We all like a good wind up from time to time. In my view if you get on a football forum and post a political diatribe you must expect to cop a lot of shit. We all know that there are good cops and bad cops. Things have changed since the 70's and 80s somewhat but there the fact remains that many police are basically uneducated shit-kickers with a badge, uniform and a gun. If I ever need help I won't be asking the police to provide it.

Im a worse typist than I am a speller actually. As for believing what posters say.

Its more how someone says or writes it, than the content itself, that gives it away sometimes. Between the lines. Behind the mask.
Its a completely agenda driven topic from someone that has a bigger ego than you and I combined.

Its rubbish, its unecessarily inflammatory, and is unwarranted. Beside's the bloke makes a huge effort and succeeds in coming across as a complete wanker. Now if thats the intention, the man's talented.

It all comes down to repsect imo.

Show a cop the respect he/she deserves as they do the job we want them to do, enforce the law, and they must return that respect for our civil and democratic rights.

However when a cop does not show respect for those rights, as they didn't at the Lobby on Australia day or at the cricket on this occassion, then they can get well and truly farked. They do not deserve the protection their uniform accords them.

              Chook.

So if someone doenst show yo respect lets say, spits in your face, bights, punches, or throws an object at you....how do you deal with that? Do we "turn a blind eye" ...especially if we are charged with protecting the rest of the community?

The cop may have gone over board. Thats not my arguement. My arguement is the lack of respect shown from the open salvo, through generalisations, from someone with a complete lack of credibility.

No, your argument was was that he "Looks like he got what he deserved."

Now you are trying to play the man and not the ball...

He probably did get what he deserved. Probable....not 100% though. And the first quote lacks the sarcastic context it was intended to carry.

Besides thats not the premise of this thread.

It's both ways man. If you show no repect you deserve none in return, irrespective if you are a cop or not.

If it's proven this bloke went for the coppers gun he got what he deserved. If it's proven the cops lied about that they should all get boned.

                        Chook.

Geez, now you have confused me...

Did he "get what he deserved" or had the officer "gone overboard"??

That is what the thread is about. Not hating the police...

You could have fooled me....teh term Pig normally isnt used as a term of endearment. Teh cop "may" have gone overboard. without knowing what happened in th elead up to that reaction, its hard to say if it was in fact an over reaction. Teh guy may have done something that warranted that, unless youre saying nothiing warrants 4 or 5 punches to the face? ive seen worse.

Agreed 100% Chook. Thats why teh cop's reaction doesnt warrant a torrent of abuse against him until the facts are known about the reason he reacted or over reacted.

The writer's intial post stinks of anti-cop sentiment, and factless assumption driven drivel, which says alot about the mentality of the writer.
